I had dinner tonight with bekkio, lagreyeyes, and their families. Bekki's kids are completely adorable, and she's such a sweet person. LA's son is a doll, and gosh, she's so gorgeous and sophisticated! Her husband was a hoot too, talking about his iPod and his favorite TV shows. It was a lovely way to spend an evening. :-)

In other news, I just finished knitting my last Christmas gift. I need not to look at yarn for a while. And yay, I can go back to reading fest fics! I can knit while watching TV, but not while reading, for some reason.

On a complete different note, jedirita came up on Friday night and the three of us (she, MDH, and I) cooked dinner together and hung out, and then Rita showed me some of her favorite Xena episodes. She left me the first two seasons of Xena in exchange for the first two seasons of Angel. And she taught us how to make samosas -- yum.

I hosted a fandom meet-up today at my house, and we had a blast! We watched Velvet Goldmine (worth it for the Ewan McGregor/JRM action alone), Sex, Politics, & Cocktails (a coming-out indie film that I don't think anyone else had seen), and the first episode of the UK Queer as Folk (and some of the folks there had never seen any QAF, so that was fun). We ran out of time before we could get to Damon & Hunter, but we'll just have to save it for another time. It was one of the biggest crowds we've had yet at a local meet-up, with jedirita, phaballa, stargategirl82, complete, maybe_someday8, aluinnsearlait and her friend Sara, whose LJ name I didn't catch, stephanometra, anoneknewmoose and prestonsbarr. That's almost a third of the folks on the hp_centraltx comm, so it was a good turnout! MDH was quite patient for someone whose home had been taken over by fangirls for the day. But at this point, he's pretty much used to it. ;-)

In other news, I am finally home. Yay! It's been a crazy summer of travel, and I'm glad it's done.

Oh and I am slowly watching my way through the entire Buffy series. Finished season one last night, w00t! Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of fanfic out there written for season one, so I guess I'm going to have to wait until I've seen more to find fic to read. I'm enjoying it so far, though it seems like the canon is still a bit thin at this point. I'm a little unsure about what vampires can and can't do -- I assume that becomes more clear as time goes on? Or is most of that fanon?
