Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth. Personality tests are fun, though I'm always a bit skeptical -- especially when they start by asking you for your astrological sign. I'm a Leo, but I don't ever seem to match how Leos are described. In fact, I don't match any of the signs. Perhaps this is because I think astrology is a crock of shit. But I digress...

Their "conscientiousness" score seems to be marked very much on tidiness! I consider myself very conscientious about my obligations, but I got a low score for conscientiousness on both the short and long tests, and I think it's due to rating myself low on tidiness (putting things in their place, keeping my room tidy etc.) I'm a very untidy person, but I don't think that carries over into any lack of care about my job and personal obligations, so I think the test has a bit of a blind spot here.

Yeah, it's off in serious spots. Like this bit form my "detailed report":

You are not affected strongly by human suffering, priding yourself on making objective judgments based on reason. You are more concerned with truth and impartial justice than with mercy.

Uh... no. Not really kthnx. I even checked "strongly disagree" to the one about truth being absolute. o_0

I also think astrology is a crock. Do you agree with their personality assessment?

(haven't yet done this)

It's about 80% accurate. Of course, you could take the text of all the frickin' questions, divide them up by these categories, and basically write the same conclusion by paraphrasing.

Yes, I'm cynical about these things... :-P

Well, they are using a legitimate personality inventory - not the BEST one, IMO, but a legitimate one. I suspect they're trying to PROVE that astrology is a crock - you notice there's nothing about astrology in the output? Somewhere behind the scenes, they've come up with an "idealized profile" for each of the star signs based on some traditional text, and they're collecting real people to see how closely they match (or don't).

These are always so much fun. I know half the time its broad descriptions and you only nod because you're like, 'omg, its sooo true', but I get a kick out of it :D

How are things going with you? I disappeared for a while with school and internship, but I'm back down in Texas for my final year. I need to meet up with you and Char someday!

I did this one and found it surprisingly accurate, for a personality test.

I agree with you that sun-sigh astrology is a load of bollocks, but have you ever had your full chart drawn up? I've found it very useful in coming to an understanding of some of my blind spots about my motivations and behaviours.
