Also, chaeche and I will be hosting a Sherlock suite at Ascendio! pennswoods has plans to help us turn it into 221B, so it should be a fantastic hangout spot for Sherlock fans at the con. Friend/join the comm for more info on Sherlockian activities that are being planned for those of us who'll be there to slash in many fandoms. :-D

I just got back from a weekend in the middle of Missouri at an HP gathering called Wrockstock. It was basically a wizard rock festival, but a group of slashers within a reasonable distance decided it was a good excuse to get together for the weekend. We had some issues with the organizers early on, but happily had no contact with them during the event. (I won't attend anything organized by them again, as they were incredibly unprofessional and even vindictive to several of us in personal communications.)

We rented a cabin and spent most of the weekend hanging out in it, relaxing, talking slash, drabbling and drawbling, and generally having great time. We made it down for a few of the bands, and that was fun, but for the most part we were there for the slash. The others who went were daddybear716, abovethestars, rubytuesday5681, dramedy, mijan, fiona_fawkes, sesheta_66, alaana_fair and melmoe1.

And now I'll be disappearing from the internets for a little while. I need to focus on getting my fics for holiday exchanges done! I'll be around, but I'm going to try to stay off my flist as much as possible until I make some significant progress. Happy Halloween, everyone!

I just came home from a hilarious evening hanging out in a pub with moony, phaballa, stargategirl82, and bansheeqwn. Dude, we laughed until we cried, especially when recounting the plots of badfics we've read and comparing the antics of Bandom and House fandom to HP. I almost peed my pants several times. It was awesome!

I think I really needed a little fandom get-together this week. We have a lovely little group here and half of us were even missing. We ought to do it more often, all together!

In case anyone in the Austin area missed it, we're having a slash get-together on March 17, which involves hanging out at my house and watching gay-themed movies, and possible drunken karaoke. ;-) Info here.

On a complete different note, jedirita came up on Friday night and the three of us (she, MDH, and I) cooked dinner together and hung out, and then Rita showed me some of her favorite Xena episodes. She left me the first two seasons of Xena in exchange for the first two seasons of Angel. And she taught us how to make samosas -- yum.

I hosted a fandom meet-up today at my house, and we had a blast! We watched Velvet Goldmine (worth it for the Ewan McGregor/JRM action alone), Sex, Politics, & Cocktails (a coming-out indie film that I don't think anyone else had seen), and the first episode of the UK Queer as Folk (and some of the folks there had never seen any QAF, so that was fun). We ran out of time before we could get to Damon & Hunter, but we'll just have to save it for another time. It was one of the biggest crowds we've had yet at a local meet-up, with jedirita, phaballa, stargategirl82, complete, maybe_someday8, aluinnsearlait and her friend Sara, whose LJ name I didn't catch, stephanometra, anoneknewmoose and prestonsbarr. That's almost a third of the folks on the hp_centraltx comm, so it was a good turnout! MDH was quite patient for someone whose home had been taken over by fangirls for the day. But at this point, he's pretty much used to it. ;-)

I just got back from an evening of hanging out in the infamous Snape's Pub with lazy_daze, balefully, son_of_darkness, and pitchblackrose. A lot of alcohol was drunk and much fandom gossip was shared. Are your ears burning, flist? *grins*

But seriously, it was so much fun to get to see these folks again, and I really appreciate them taking the time to come and hang out with me on a Thursday night!

Oh, and I have to report one funny moment from late in the evening when a random drunk guy came and sat at our table to flirt with lazy_daze. His astoundingly smooth pick-up line: "So, have you ever kissed a dead body?" And she turned to me and said, "Hey, have you ever read that one Harry/dead!James fic where he's fucking him and feels all the maggots squirming around his cock?" I've never seen a guy leave quite so quickly, heh. ;-)

We had a LOT of fun on Saturday night, and I'm so happy to have had the chance to meet all these wonderful women! When I posted that I'd be in New York and asked if people wanted to get together, I had no idea the response would be so huge! There were 20 of us all being fangirly and naughty, and we all had a blast!

I had a great meetup last Saturday with a bunch of HP folks I hadn't met before, and we had a blast! There was lazy_daze (whom I've been wanting to meet for a while and will see again at Lumos, yay!), her roommate baleheadbabe (who was lots of fun and is also going to Lumos), raelinschaos (who was so sweet and funny), son_of_darkness (who was completely adorable), nightwish_fan (who was the first to arrive and told me my accent was cute, hee), ias (whom I'd been hoping to have a chance to meet for a while and with whom I chatted about all sorts of academicky stuff), lizardspots (whom you all know is a fantastic artist but is also an incredibly sweet and lovely person), pitchblackrose (who joined us a little late and wow, is from Iceland!), and dora_the_nymph (very nice and sweet). Ack, I hope I haven't forgotten anyone!

We drank coffee and talked and laughed, and Lizard drew a stunning Harry/Cedric pic (that I am writing a fic for, stay tuned) and generally frightened the people around us. It was so much fun to meet you all! *massive hugs*

Oh, and from scanning their LJs I see they all continued to have lots of fun that day! *grins* I'm a bit jealous -- I would have loved to hang out longer, but alas, we had made plans. FWIW, that night I got to see MDH's very upper class boss get extremely drunk at a restaurant and begin making rude comments to women with boob jobs. 0_o
