Is fucked up. I have never read the Bible. Ever. I have been an atheist for most of my life. I haven't been to church since I was in grade school.

I scored a 95% -- thanks to my bible belt unbringing, I guess. :-)

But you're right, it's not that hard a quiz -- so much of the bible stories and key quotes are part of Western Civ history now -- if you're reasonably literate, you come across most of the stuff in the quiz even if you've never read the bible.

That was a seriously lame quiz. The best questions were the ones like, "What book comes after Colossians?" Otherwise, the multiple choice answers were so blatantly obvious that you'd have to be a moron not to get them. "Who was the first king of Israel - Henry VIII, King Tut, or Saul?" Well, DUH. "With what did Jesus feed the 5000 - Chinese take-away or pizza?" Give me a break!

Besides, consider the fact that Bible stories infuse Western culture. You don't have to have read the Bible in order to be familiar with Jonah, Moses, and Jesus. If that makes you feel any better.

Oh, and I got 100%, of course. :D

There were certainly some stupid distractors in the quiz, but I was still surprised how many questions I knew the answers to, just from having seen Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Ten Commandments. :-P

A lot of it is general knowledge and stuff from countless novels and movies and whatnot... that is the ONLY reason I did this well. I passed my Bible Survey classes in uni by the skin of my teeth. History was never my subject.

I got a 72. Most of the questions had at least 2 answers that anyone who was not a complete idiot would know weren't the right answer. Oh wait... a good portion of Americans are complete idiots...LOL.

Wow, I have utterly, utterly failed! I got 46%. I too am an atheist, so I'm not entirely surprised. I did however spend a week out of the summer for 8 or 9 years at a summer camp that included christian teachings and I went to a Presbyterian college and was required to take at least a few religion courses. Apparently classes don't offer much help to the damned. *shrug*

So... After trying to answer maybe... 10 questions, I just gave up. I don't know most of them. Seriously. And I've read most of the Old Testament and know it well, but I know next to nothing about the new one.

Guess growing up in an entirely Jewish neighborhood is a little isolating? I don't know. No excuses. My (Catholic) father was shocked when I admitted in college that I didn't know the four books of... I don't even know what they're called. Matthew, Mark... those. Oh! The Gospels? Anyway, I didn't know them and he was surprised. But like... why would I know them? He never taught me anything (they decided to raise me Jewish), and I had no where to learn, so.

But anyway, I'm sure I fail.

Let me modify that statement. I could easily guess the answers on most (because the choices were dumb), but... as for my actual knowledge, I fail.
