Oh, you did it now. Hit on one of my pet peeves. But I'll not take it out on you. Since you are not here and are not travelling here, I will not hold it against you that you don't know that this part of Florida is in the central time zone.
Instead... I'll realize I should give you points for noticing where I am! :) Better.
I asked for before 10 so I have time to snag it on disk before leaving for work... (oh, my.. I was going to do another 'puter-less night... but if there's new emma to be read, the computer will be going!)
I will not hold it against you that you don't know that this part of Florida is in the central time zone.
Actually, I had no idea where in Florida you lived. I think you mentioned once in a recent LJ post that it was cold and since you lived in Florida, that was highly unusual... all I knew. Now I have a much better idea of where you live, actually!
And yes, I'm planning to post a little more when I get home from work, so you should get it in time. (I'm actually thrilled that you'd haul your computer all the way to work just for that!)
BTW: There will be several posts this week, since I've been making some progress...
Aw yeah! Want, want, want...
After all, if it was more than a little playful flirtation, then he should put a stop to it at once. But I don't want this to stop, not yet.
Oooh, Obi-in-denial. Love it. *grin*
Re: the lightsaber match. While I'm not surprised that Ferus is totally unable to match Anakin when they're wrestling -- Ferus is way too distracted, and Anakin plays dirty -- I am a little surprised that Anakin outmatches Ferus so badly with lightsabers. Ferus always struck me as being a Really Good Padawan, in all senses of the word. I mean, we know Anakin's The Best There Ever Was and all, but I like scenes of him getting his comeuppance from Ferus...
Ferus had lost, but he was not giving up. Anakin held the struggling boy down fairly easily. A smile spread across his face as he felt Ferus' frustration rise sharply.
Oh, that's cute. It seems like Anakin is the only one who can needle Ferus this way... You know, I really need to get the rest of the JA books and reread them...
A twinge of guilt surfaced through the elation that filled Anakin's brain. He sighed heavily and loosened his tight grip on Ferus' wrists. "Your eyes darted to the right just before the feint. You completely broadcast your intentions." Ferus relaxed beneath him considerably, nodding but not meeting Anakin's gaze. Anakin released his hands and sat up, still straddling Ferus' hips.
I like this bit quite a lot. Anakin actually does want to be a good Jedi, it just goes against his instincts. He makes mistakes. He's a little rougher around the edges than everybody else. *mind boggling* Can you even IMAGINE how he would have turned out under Qui-Gon's tutelage?
Anakin looked up to see Ferus staring at him strangely. "What?"
Clueless boy, eh? Oh, you'll catch on. Ferus must be shielding his lust pretty well.
Anakin held him down firmly, not sure what he had done wrong. He couldn't have been hurting him. Was Ferus finally showing a little human emotion at being defeated? Anakin had no intention of giving up his victory this easily. He leaned forward, grinning wickedly, pressing his weight along Ferus' length. "What's wrong now?"
"Ani, please!" Ferus whimpered, closing his eyes.
"Emma, please!" Helens whimpered, seeing the end of the fic approaching far too rapidly.
At that moment Anakin became distinctly aware of an erection pressing into his groin. He released Ferus and rolled off of him quickly, watching with a mixture of surprise and amusement as Ferus sat up and pressed his head between his raised knees. An awkward silence stretched between them.
Aughn aughn aughn!!! You can't stop there! Not with Ferus about to pass out like that! What in hell is Anakin going to DO now??!!
OK, sweetie -- really, really nicely done, again. I'm wondering if Siri is going to catch on to Obi's denial, and if so, is she going to use that to her advantage or actually admit that she's noticing it? You could play her either way, but she does actually care about him and she's probably not going to want to do anything that will really hurt him... but then, maybe she really wouldn't understand why this would hurt him. Hmm.
And then Ani/Ferus... guh. I canNOT believe I'm saying "guh" about Anakin Fucking "WhinyBitch" Skywalker. Evil evil evil. Guh.
And now I join the list of people clamoring for more. More! Please!
First - Thank you sooo much!!! You always give such wonderful fedback!
Re: Ani beating Ferus: Yes, it's a great point and I did struggle with it. I think that I see Ferus at being very good at the everyday details of being a Jedi. He's calm, centered, serene, and so forth. He's a lot like Obi-Wan in many ways. Anakin, on the other hand, is all about power. He is incredibly powerful, and has extreme difficulty harnessing all of it. Sometimes he can, and when he's well-centered and focused on the task at hand, he's practically invincible (c.f. JQ 5). But that sort of control and groundedness is not something he can maintain. Ferus, on the other hand, is almost always in control, perfectly centered, and so forth, but he's not as powerful as Anakin - not nearly. The sparring was supposed to be one of those examples of how good Ani really is when he's working at it.
In addition, all of this is (hopefully) setting up what's to come. The plot (and yes, there is one) will start to thicken in the next post.
Yes, I agree wholeheartedly with this characterization of Anakin! This is something that JW does so well, and I love it! There are times when I can almost identify with the kid, which is disconcerting...
Again, one of those things that Ferus is good at - and that Anakin isn't so good at. So what does Obi really know about Anakin's sex life? I haven't decided yet, though I'm thinking that he knows more than Ani thinks he does.
"Ani, please!" Ferus whimpered, closing his eyes.
*big grin* LOL! I appreciate that, especially coming from the queen of The Big Tease herself! I learned from the best, really! ;^)
Re: Ani/Ferus: I really had no idea that my Obi/Siri ficlet was going to become an epic-length fic that also heavily featured Ani/Ferus. It just WENT that way, know what I mean? Sometimes your muses take over, and you go back and read what you just wrote, thinking, "WTF?" Do you know if anyone else has written Ani/Ferus? Have I actually done something original here?
Re: Siri/Obi: The plot will be thickening very soon, and Siri and Obi will be dealing with Interesting Things. Oh, I shouldn't give so many hints like this - it's not fair... But this is going to be a long fic, perhaps the length of "The Moonflower Festival." (http://www.queerasjedi.com/emma/moonflower1.html) (Shameless self-promotion in putting the link there, I know...) A lot is going to happen, and I'm not sure how it turns out yet!
Oh, that just makes my day! I'll probably post the next part when I get home from work. Thanks again!
Long fic! yay! And a thickening plot, along with other, uh, body parts. Yay! I love both the Obi/Siri dynamic, and the Ani/Ferus dynamic. I'm wondering about Ferus' apparent panic attack, though. Hmm, methinks Ferus has somthing nasty in his past....
I know *I* wasn't expecting this to go on that long, so all hail the long fic! :)
And I also wonder what's going on with Ferus, although I didn't think it was something dark. My guess was that he takes the celibacy thing very seriously, and snuck out once to sleep with someone, and is terrified of what will happen if he breaks the rules -- especially with Anakin.
Ya know, my original thought here was just that Ferus (aka the Perfect Padawan) had just had it pressed into his brain his entire life that sex leads to attachment, which is Bad Thing. Of course, not all Jedi agree with this bit of dogma -- Siri doesn't for example. So it was something that he was a little afraid of and though he's enjoying the way he's suddenly responding physically to Anakin, he's also very confused by it and frightened (think: sexually repressed yet horny 19-year-old guy.)
But I'm intrigued by the thought that maybe something has happened before...? It wasn't in my plan, but now I'm thinking about it. Maybe something didn't necessarily happen to him, but to someone he was close to? I'm not sure I want to give up Virgin!Ferus quite yet... He's going to be such a nice plaything contrast to Slut!Anakin.
Well, ya certainly don't have to follow the Angsty path, but his reaction to Anakin was so strongly negative, panicky, unlike before where it just seemed to discombobulate (uh, sp?) him. Especially when he had his head between his knees -- I thought he was hyperventilating. I was thinking he had been raped or nearly raped, once. I'm not necessarily advocating that, but then again, I'm not *not* advocating it either. Erm...
By the way, I may be hallucinating here, but did we talk about this at some point? The idea that Ferus is really too old to be Siri's padawan? A theory that he had had another master first, who died or something, and then Siri became his master? Because, you know, the math doesn't work at all. Ferus being two years older than Ani, Siri being two years younger than Obi, the timing of her being undercover with the pirates, etc, etc. Or maybe all that was in Helens' Siri story? I *know* we discussed this somewhere....
By the way, I may be hallucinating here, but did we talk about this at some point?
Hmmm... I don't think so. Maybe, but I don't really remember. But, yeah, the timing of it all makes no sense. Am I just forgetting something important, or has JW really not justified this? Perhaps I'll fill in that gap myself...
So...did we decide anything in that thread? Personally, I like the idea that something happened to his first master, and Siri picked up with him. They are such an unlikely Master/Apprentice pair. Shades, even, of Rebel Qui-Gon and Council's Pet Obi-Wan.
And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for JW to explain the time discrepancy. After all, she *totally* botched the timeline in the first Jedi Apprentice Special Edition. (By the way, I've heard there will be a third JASE!!!!) She has admitted to not paying much attention to canon in other books. She looks to the editors to catch her mistakes, which apparently they don't always do.
