They're even doing pirate talk on Regis & Kelly. The world feels like a very small place today.

On another topic entirely: I posted a fic the other day that had a non-con warning on it, and the response to it was pretty interesting. A lot of people commented that they had been hesitant to read it because of that warning, but for whatever reason read it anyway. So I was flattered, of course, but also intrigued. I almost didn't label it as non-con, because I wasn't sure it technically qualified. I decided to add that label for the heck of it, and didn't really think that a significant number of people would avoid reading it as a result.

[Poll #824833]

How would you define non-con? Is there really such a thing as "mild" non-con, or do you categorize it all in the same way?

re: the last question: it would all depend on the circumstances. for example, if it happened between minor characters of the story, or if it happened because one of the characters was drugged/forced in some other way, and if it wasn't described in a graphic way, then i wouldn't be that upset. but i'd still want a warning for it.

i didn't read your most recent story because of the non-con warning, especially because the summary suggested the non-con/violence would happen between harry and draco.

Read it! I don't want to spoil it for you, but I think it will make you happy. Not your typical non-con, hint hint.

well, unless emma's summary is completely misleading [which i can't imagine], then this story really isn't for me. i don't like violence, mindgames, betrayal, or humiliation between harry and draco, and it seemed that the story was definitely headed towards that.

Well, there are mind games, so you're right that it is probably not for you. But I was pleasantly surprised by the direction that the story ended up taking, and that's why I felt some readers who don't generally care for non-con might be able to deal with it in this particular story.

ah, i see. yeah, i don't like if harry and draco purposefully manipulate each other and are generally dishonest with one another because they get a kick out of it. i'm too invested in their otp-ness for that to make for pleasurable reading for me.

Well, it looks like Emma may make this into a longer story, so I'm hoping she does take this initial antagonistic encounter into eventual OTP-ness for H/D. :)

Okay, at this point, I kinda want to say the story is really nothing like what you're guessing. It's set right after HBP, so the boys are in that canon mindset of hating each other for the last six years. They aren't fluffy bunnies because that would be impossible to write in 1600 words and have it make any sense.

So you know, read it or don't. It's not a big deal to me. It's just fic, after all. ;-)

what i said directly above wasn't so much about what i imagine might happen in your story, but what i in general don't like to see in h/d fic. and even if that was happening in the story, then i'd think that was a gutsy choice because i certainly couldn't write something like that happening between harry and draco [i'm too much of a sap when it comes to them].

i'll think about it :).
