Calling all Star Wars writers!
Aug. 13th, 2004 08:41 pmWe all know that there's not nearly enough Star Wars fanfic in the galaxy. There should definitely be more of it. But how to motivate ourselves to write?
jedirita and
emmagrant01 are hosting a
Master-Apprentice Fic-A-Thon!
So here's the way it works:
1. Everyone is invited to think of story challenges. Whatever you want: specific events, certain pairings, usage of certain words or phrases, etc. Be creative, wild, insane. Send all the challenges to Rita at jedirita@yahoo.com, or leave a comment in this entry detailing your challenge, from now until August 23. We'll post these challenges on our website when the list has been compiled.
2. Then until the end of August, anyone who wants to may claim a challenge. We'll keep the list updated, so everyone can keep track of what challenges have been claimed.
3. Challenge stories may then be posted to the MA list during the month of September. (Or post them to your LJ if you like and let us know, so we can pimp it on the MA list for you!) The timeframe will give us something to aim for.
4. We will have tons of new fic and there will be great rejoicing!
So what do you think? Does that sound worth a try? If so, go ahead and send Rita your challenges or submit them here by commenting. You can send as many as you want, as specific or vague as you want. Everyone is invited to participate: lurkers, BNFs, oldies, and newbies!
And please spread the word on LJ by linking to this post!

Date: 2004-08-14 07:25 am (UTC)And I know that some challemges aren't really going to be MA material, but we really don't won't to put any restrictions on this! If people don't want to post their fics on MA for whatever reason, that's fine. I'm going to archive them all on a website, anyway. The point is to encourage people to write in this fandom.
So... got any challenges?

Date: 2004-08-14 07:36 am (UTC)Faith: belief, trust, fidelity, loyalty, conviction
Hope: desire, belief, reliance, expectation
Charity: generosity, benevolence, helpfulness, mercy
Fortitude: strength, courage, endurance, resoluteness
Justice: impartiality, fairness, equity, rightness, dispassion
Temperance: moderation, restraint, self-mastery, frugality, sobriety
Prudence: wisdom, vigilance, carefulness, thoughtfulness, discretion
And, uh... can I put dibs on Charity? I think that'd go really well for an Anakin/Owen scene. Man, I watched the Owen scenes of AotC the other night looking for bunnies and I had totally forgotten how whiny Anakin is -- I think I'd blocked that from my memory. Needless to say, fic!Anakin is a lot less whiny in my head... >_>

Date: 2004-08-14 07:37 am (UTC)Here's something. I've seen a ton of "seven deadly sins" challenges, so instead of that, I'd opt with the seven heavenly virtues (as found on http://deadlysins.com/). The Jedi strike me as the heavenly virtues type rather than the deadly sins type anyway. By the way, DeadlySins.com is funny as hell!
