emmagrant01: (Windu checking you out)

We all know that there's not nearly enough Star Wars fanfic in the galaxy. There should definitely be more of it. But how to motivate ourselves to write?

[livejournal.com profile] jedirita and [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01 are hosting a
Master-Apprentice Fic-A-Thon!

So here's the way it works:

1. Everyone is invited to think of story challenges. Whatever you want: specific events, certain pairings, usage of certain words or phrases, etc. Be creative, wild, insane. Send all the challenges to Rita at jedirita@yahoo.com, or leave a comment in this entry detailing your challenge, from now until August 23. We'll post these challenges on our website when the list has been compiled.

2. Then until the end of August, anyone who wants to may claim a challenge. We'll keep the list updated, so everyone can keep track of what challenges have been claimed.

3. Challenge stories may then be posted to the MA list during the month of September. (Or post them to your LJ if you like and let us know, so we can pimp it on the MA list for you!) The timeframe will give us something to aim for.

4. We will have tons of new fic and there will be great rejoicing!

So what do you think? Does that sound worth a try? If so, go ahead and send Rita your challenges or submit them here by commenting. You can send as many as you want, as specific or vague as you want. Everyone is invited to participate: lurkers, BNFs, oldies, and newbies!

And please spread the word on LJ by linking to this post!

Just a thought, if you wanted to call it a Fuh-Q-Fest, you could register it with the FQF's and get a lot more promotion that way. Thought I'd offer it as an idea for pushing the fest.

I actually thought of doing this some months ago but wasn't sure if there would be enough interest. Hope it works out for you.

I have quite a few challenge idea I came up with at that time, I will send them to you if you'd like them.

What a cool idea; I've often wondered why SW hasn't run a FQF-esque contest of sorts.

Maybe this'll get me out of my writing slump.

Thumbs up all around.

It's a very cool idea. I'm deep in HP RPG land at the moment. I am still a Jedi-loving gal.

Sounds great! As I just mentioned to Rita, I'm desperate to write some Anakin/Owen, but have no bunnies. *points at hot leonine guy in userpic* That would be Owen disguised as Gawain in King Arthur, hence my urge for Owen!fic. It's not really MA material, but who cares? I can write it anyway and post it here and on the website...

I hope you had a wonderful birthday and got everything you wanted/needed.

*birthdayhugs*

Next

On to the chalenges mwaahahaaa! (made small because, I know better than to try to out evil you anywhere, but especially on your own journal.)...

-Obi/Bail. PWP. NC-17 involving the office of a council member or high ranking senator, a broken glass and the word sewer.

Qui-gon/Obi-wan. PG-13 or higher. Stuck on a orbital station awaiting replacement parts for their ship, they play "deprivation" to pass the time. Can be playing with workers from station or other Jedi. If ends with sex, can be just them alone, or with any of the other players. Bonus point for someone having to admit to performing a sex act with Yoda. Deprivation is a game for at least three, up to as many players as you can fit in the room. It can be played as a drinking game or as gambling. Taking turns in a circular fashion, each player states that s/he has never done (_____). Anyone who has done (______) (including the person who made the statement if it was false)takes a drink, or anties up and a score is kept. If it is a drinking game, winning and loosing is based on how drunk you are at the end. If it is gambling, at the end of each round, whoever has the fewest points get the pot. There is no lying allowed and, as they are Jedi, I imagine they would know. Questions tend to get weirder and racier as the game goes on. No repeats allowed.

-Siri Tachi/anyone. Consensual hard-core BDSM (you pick which aspects to include or stress). She can top or bottom. Try to make it realistic. If you have never played in the scene and are not willing to do research, don't claim this one.

That's all for now.

I didn't know there was a registry of FQFs! Where is it? I doubt we'll change the name this time, but we were thinking that if it was successful, we'd try it again later. That would indeed be a great way to promote it...

I have quite a few challenge idea I came up with at that time, I will send them to you if you'd like them.

Yes! Please! Email them to Rita, if that's easiest.

There have been a few successful fic challenges in recent years, but I don't think there's ever been a true Fuh-Q-Fest. We thought if this was successful, maybe a more focused Fuh-Q-Fest would follow!

Maybe this'll get me out of my writing slump.

Yay! I really hope you'll write something for the Fic-A-Thon! :-D

From: [identity profile] emmagrant01.livejournal.com
Hi, Ewan! I hope you'll write something for this? Since when have you been such a big HP fan? I know you read LMH, but I thought that was an anomaly, for some reason.

From: [identity profile] emmagrant01.livejournal.com

Anakin/Owen? Sounds good to me! Hell, anything that makes you think about writing TPM again is a good thing!

And I know that some challemges aren't really going to be MA material, but we really don't won't to put any restrictions on this! If people don't want to post their fics on MA for whatever reason, that's fine. I'm going to archive them all on a website, anyway. The point is to encourage people to write in this fandom.

So... got any challenges?

Write a fic where one of the following heavenly virtues leads to smut, or barring smut, character connection. Any pairing.

Faith: belief, trust, fidelity, loyalty, conviction
Hope: desire, belief, reliance, expectation
Charity: generosity, benevolence, helpfulness, mercy
Fortitude: strength, courage, endurance, resoluteness
Justice: impartiality, fairness, equity, rightness, dispassion
Temperance: moderation, restraint, self-mastery, frugality, sobriety
Prudence: wisdom, vigilance, carefulness, thoughtfulness, discretion

And, uh... can I put dibs on Charity? I think that'd go really well for an Anakin/Owen scene. Man, I watched the Owen scenes of AotC the other night looking for bunnies and I had totally forgotten how whiny Anakin is -- I think I'd blocked that from my memory. Needless to say, fic!Anakin is a lot less whiny in my head... >_>

Oh, and I forgot to paste in the opening paragraph to the reply window explaining the above:

Here's something. I've seen a ton of "seven deadly sins" challenges, so instead of that, I'd opt with the seven heavenly virtues (as found on http://deadlysins.com/). The Jedi strike me as the heavenly virtues type rather than the deadly sins type anyway. By the way, DeadlySins.com is funny as hell!
From: [identity profile] professorrlupin.livejournal.com
Yup, definately will write something!!! I am still a Star Wars fan first.

Nope...been trolling the HP fics for a while now. I play Remus - as you see, lol. I only write HP for the RPG. I've read all the books quite a few times.

I like RL/SS and RL/SB. Remus is my fave character and Ewan sooooo should have played him.

I've had a bunny like this for a good long while, but I'm not sure whether my bunny fits precisely. But I might do something with it anyway. *grin*

Hey, by *my* definition of MA, it counts so long as it involves at least one of the major Jedi characters. Qui, Obi, and Ani for sure. So yes, that one counts.

Heh. "But there are girls!" I agree -- Anakin's the apprentice, dammit, and while it might not get any MA feedback, it's still apprentice-based. Still, I expect that between the total lack of Qui and Obi and the femmeslash, it's the sort of thing that would be deleted as soon as people see the headers. C'est la vie.

You might be surprised how many of the fic challenges I've received involve alternate pairings. Heck, *I'm* surprised, and I'd always suspected that the list isn't as resolutely Q/O as some people would have us believe.

Wow! Really? How cool! :D Actually, the fact that the challenges I saw had pairings kinda disappointed me; I guess it makes sense, but since the characters I want to write right now are probably only of interest to me *grin* it meant I didn't have much to offer.

Hmmm... Maybe people don't write other stuff because they don't think there's an audience for it, but they'd secretly like to see more of it? I know *I* fall in that category. I'm bored to tears with Q/O, personally.
