LJ angsting, plus wacky poll
Aug. 19th, 2007 10:22 amEveryone is putting up these polls asking "Where are you going to do most of your posting from now on?" and I am so reluctant to answer that yet. It feels too soon. There's never an answer along the lines of "I'm going to wait and see what happens." I'm actually starting to get a little stressed about it because I'm watching friends scatter to the horizons while they turn around and say, "You coming or not? Decide now plz."
I'm getting used to having two flists, though I agree with many others that all the crossposting is really hurting the connectivity of fandom. So yeah, maybe it would be better if everyone just picked one place to post and stuck to it. I think this will all settle out eventually, but for now it's a bit frustrating to watch everyone flail.
Okay, then, decision: For now, I'm going to stop crossposting to IJ. If you want to read me, LJ is the place to do it. And I'll read two flists for a while and see how that works for me.

Date: 2007-08-19 03:39 pm (UTC)I don't like LJ, but I'm sort of tied to it. And there isn't much happening on IJ. Only a handful of people are posting.

Date: 2007-08-19 03:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm not happy with LJ either, but it's home. I'm going to be unwilling to leave it unless it looks like I'm going to be the only one left. :-P

Date: 2007-08-19 04:02 pm (UTC)I just think we are making it so easy to them, to Big Corporate. They don't really have to do anything to 'clean' (as SixApart said they wanted to do with LJ) of fandom. Just suspend/erase some users and the rest is in motion. I plan to stick here until I'm tossed out.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:12 pm (UTC)Yeah, I agree, but if I were a fanartist, I think I'd be gone already, because they are being targeted in really random ways. And are we not supporting them by not moving with them? I just don't know.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:09 pm (UTC)I had such a hard time with the colors. I... have always chosen purple for my entire life, but I've discovered recently that my first instinct is now somewhere between black and red. I feel vaguely guilty about this.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:13 pm (UTC)I can barely manage to post in this journal, much less keep up with all the others. I have one everywhere, but I feel guilty every time I see the poor empty things. If I could have it my way, everyone would leave LJ and move to IJ, only because LJ deserves to be left.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:21 pm (UTC)I love the wacky poll though. It was fun to answer, even if I did have to think far too hard about some of them. I'm totally not sure that I could give up ipod/cd player for the internet but that seemed the best option.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:32 pm (UTC)Previously I might have picked "true love" over "great sex", but it's just not something I could handle right now. Great sex on the other hand... well, yeah. That I could handle any time! ;)
About the flists and crossposting: what's bothering me about it is that people aren't commenting to entries all in one place, so the conversations are becoming fragmented. I don't really know what to do about it though. I'm mainly here, but I do try to keep up to date with IJ. I definitely read there, and more often than not I crosspost there as well. It's just getting difficult to keep up with. I'm over GJ completely though, and I'm really only using my JF account to keep up with Fandom Wank. So yeah... I guess LJ and IJ for me, for now.

Date: 2007-08-19 04:46 pm (UTC)So yeah, I can handle two flists. But I think I'd like them to have different content.

Date: 2007-08-19 05:02 pm (UTC)Aww, Hong Kong is getting no love - I'm the only one who's picked it so far :( It's a great and crazy city and I quite like it.
I hate all soda really, but I picked 7up because it's closest to lemonade... only I prefer the real thing - you know, made from real lemons ;)
Brie is the best cheese in the whole world! :D
And I am slightly upset you didn't have orange for a favourite colour option, I had to pick the closest to it: red :P
I don't like the fragmenting effect of multiposting/moving to other sites very much, but I am not too upset over having multiple flists to read... I am just too lazy to look everyone up on other sites and so I'm sure there are posts I'm missing lately :/
