emmagrant01: (ST my turn)

Everyone is putting up these polls asking "Where are you going to do most of your posting from now on?" and I am so reluctant to answer that yet. It feels too soon. There's never an answer along the lines of "I'm going to wait and see what happens." I'm actually starting to get a little stressed about it because I'm watching friends scatter to the horizons while they turn around and say, "You coming or not? Decide now plz."

I'm getting used to having two flists, though I agree with many others that all the crossposting is really hurting the connectivity of fandom. So yeah, maybe it would be better if everyone just picked one place to post and stuck to it. I think this will all settle out eventually, but for now it's a bit frustrating to watch everyone flail.

Okay, then, decision: For now, I'm going to stop crossposting to IJ. If you want to read me, LJ is the place to do it. And I'll read two flists for a while and see how that works for me.

Take my choice of money over true love with the grain of salt given those recently (and bitterly) divorced. *G*

What a fun poll! Thanks for this!

You've summed up my own feeling on the whole multi-journal thing. I think it's much too early to decide, and it makes me sad to see that some people are burning all their bridges already.

No option for Dr. Pepper?

I don't know what I'm doing with the whole journaling thing. I've got too many friends here to leave. I'm not just in HP fandom, either. And no one else is leaving. It's like being schizophrenic or something, you know.

I don't like LJ, but I'm sort of tied to it. And there isn't much happening on IJ. Only a handful of people are posting.

God, you've taken the words right out of my mouth. I'm so stressed out by the whole thing, as are we all. This has been weeks now of frustration, irritation, and short tempers. I'd quite like it to be over now.

Just how bad the leaving-LJ-situation is for fandom can be seen from my flist - not a month after the release of the last piece of canon our fandom will receive, fic amounts to less than a fifth of the posts. I am cross-posting like the Net is mine, but to say that I will follow three flists will mean that I don't know the first thing about myself. :shrugs: I see many people head over to IJ but honestly, I am not sure I can get used by the amount of headache-y stuff there. Just...no. Scribblit, on the other hand is currently not yet up, but promises to be at least pretty. I'm on the 'waiting for the dust to settle and mirroring in the meantime' team. :/

for me it's not even a matter that all of my flist wants to move, but that significant parts of it--people who are not in hp, rl friends--have no intention of moving. so i don't really want to migrate. i'm also lazy.

I know. I tend not to be an early adopter myself; I just follow where everyone else goes. And it takes time for the group to collectively decide where it's going to go. :-P

Hee! I am mean and forcing you to choose between those limited options. Let's assume you can have all the Dr. Pepper you want, though. ;-)

I'm seeing people post on IJ that they see the whole fandom moving there, and I just don't see that myself. Right now I see a handful of people have moved, and that most people are crossposting.

Yeah, I'm not happy with LJ either, but it's home. I'm going to be unwilling to leave it unless it looks like I'm going to be the only one left. :-P

And sadly, I don't think it will be for a while. Though things seem to have settled out a bit in the last week. Rather than four journals, people seem to be trying to choose between two now.

Ha...I was totally inconsistent, some I answered as they applied to me now, and some for wishful thinking. However, I am single-minded in my love for cheddar.

ugh artificial sweeteners are so nasty! I think I'm one of those 'supertaster' people- I can taste fake sugar a mile away- all gross and chemical-y!

Also, it's far too difficult to pick a favorite cheese. It's like picking a favorite child!

I'm going to wait and see. And I think I'll stop crossposting for my own sanity. If people really don't want to read me here, that's okay.

I only have fandom friends here, but I feel the same way. I really don't want to go yet. If I were being directly targeted by a lot of this crap, I'm sure I would feel differently.

Though I do worry that a lot of fanartists will feel like fandom is not supporting them if we don't move, you know?

Hee! Well, it's not like it's a serious poll anyway. ;-)

I made the damn poll and I even had a hard time choosing a cheese. :-P

I'm a splenda fan in beverages. Real sugar leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But in foods, there's definitely something missing if the sugar isn't real. It's a cooking chemistry issue there, though, and not just a flavor one. :-)

I feel exactly the same way. It's come to a point I'm checking my f-list once a week, sometimes even less, I'm so stressed over all this issue. And that won't do, because this is where I'm supposed to get relaxed! I just, I mean, I do have all the 10 additional journals everyone else is creating, but I've had my GJ for more than a year and I don't think I've ever even changed the default layout.

I just think we are making it so easy to them, to Big Corporate. They don't really have to do anything to 'clean' (as SixApart said they wanted to do with LJ) of fandom. Just suspend/erase some users and the rest is in motion. I plan to stick here until I'm tossed out.

I've noticed that when I cross post to IJ I get more comments than I do on my LJ, which I think may have to do with people's IJ friendslist being smaller. I've also noticed that I've gotten comments on my IJ from people who have never commented on my LJ even though they've had me friended for ages. It's part of the reason why I keep cross-posting there. I don't like the fragmentation either, though.

I like this kind of poll. Not only do I know all the answers (which, after all these polls about what will you do now, is a relief), but I also take great delight in my choices. It is also a pleasure to see that other people prefer the colour green, wine, and the internet. :)

I'm seeing people post on IJ that they see the whole fandom moving there.

I think that is very much wishful thinking. Most of fandom is not moving there. Most people I know who aren't HP people aren't even thinking about it. They don't see the threat.

I'm going to be unwilling to leave it unless it looks like I'm going to be the only one left. :-P

Exactly. I've been cross posting to IJ, and trying to get it set up. But it doesn't work as well as LJ. It's all not that much fun anymore. We should all be have fun and discussing the new canon to death, and instead we're angsting over LJ/IJ and the problems it's causing.

I think I'll go write more Draco porn! *g*
