Date: 2004-01-15 04:47 am (UTC)I mean, come on! The worst way to try to get people to do something is to tell them you're going to publicly announce that they're evil because they don't do it. It's human nature to react by saying, "You can't tell me what to do!" and then to do it more, just to prove you can.
Boycotting is an economic protest strategy. It doesn't even make sense to boycott in this case! Ironically, she's drawing a great deal of attention to exactly the sites she wants people to avoid, and that attention is not coming from the people she expected.

Date: 2004-01-15 05:04 am (UTC)If parents are just letting their kids surf the 'net with no filtering software, the kids are much more likely to accidentally encounter hard-core pictures than they are to read 60k of fanfic with an explicit sex scene at the end.
You're right that arguing with someone like that is pointless. It'll all be old news by this time next week, anyway!
