emmagrant01: (got slash?)

You know what makes me go 0_o about all of this slash-bashing (on a post that is now locked, apparently *coughs*)?

We're arguing about fictional characters. Who never existed. Who aren't, you know, real people. Who gives a fuck what someone who does not exist does or doesn't do in bed? My fantasies are my fantasies, and I don't have to justify them to anyone.

That said, people have the right to have opinions different than mine, and even, lo, to express them on their journals. But to bitch about how slash fic is OOC?

To quote Hermione, "Oh, well spotted!" Slap me with a fish and call me Elmo, because I would never have realized how horribly OOC my characters are without someone pointing that little detail out. You mean, they don't actually blow each other in the broom shed? My god, what have we done??? *eye roll*

Of course it's fucking OOC. I made Harry and Draco GAY, for fuck's sake. I have actually read the books, and I did indeed note the distinct lack of buttsex in them. I recognize that the characters are not now, and probably never will be, gay in canon. Or even bisexual. And do I give a shit? That would be a no, because I'm not in fandom to write stories that "flesh out canon". People can do that if they want, and more power to them, but me? I'm here for the slash, basically. I'm all about Teh Gay, as are most of the people reading this, I imagine.

And I really don't care what other people think, ya know? I'm a slasher. I don't freak out when my ship is sunk, or when one of my OTP is killed. I live in my own little slashy fandom world, and I like it that way. It's nicer here. And we have better icons. So there.

Note: You know, I've written quite a lot of het, so this shouldn't be interpreted as a het vs. slash thing at all. It's about me boggling at someone throwing what they think is an insult at the whole slash genre -- when its OOCness is something I actually embrace. Go figure. :-P

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] son_of_darkness even made a comic about it, hee!

I read a lot of fic before reading the last book and it actually made me enjoy the book less. Some slashers actually made more believable plot points. (Lupin and Tonks? That whole thing was awkward and weird)

Your way is probably more logical since the books are supposed to be the point. :)

Lupin's only with Tonks because she morphs into Sirius at night. I cling to that when I read 'canon compliant' fics.

That or guilt. He's terribly nice and she was so tragic.

Once things settle down some more, he'll let her down gently and start seeing Draco/Harry/Snape/several muggles at once and all will be well with the world.

I have a tendency to stop reading fic immediately before or after a book release, anyway, so I guess it's somewhat logical by default.

I agree that some of the slash pairings make way more het than the canon ones, but unfortunately, HBP totally ruined Harry/Snape for me. Hahah

Oh, but Snape is really a good guy and when Harry learns this he'll be swept away by lust!

It's true. I got a sneak peak of book seven.

Lots and lots of buttsex. Yup.

It's a funny thing, loving books and loving the fics. I can't imagine reading fic about any other world. I love the world so much, yet I read the last book only one time and actually put it off for a bit so I could finish the fics I was reading.

I'm scared that the fic will die out after the last book is done. That would make me sad.

I think I would die if people weren't writing as much, because I'm already suffering a lack of really good fic, and we're not even to the end yet!

And yes, I keep hoping that maybe JK will change her mind in #7 and Harry actually broke up with Ginny to be with Draco/Ron/Neville/Snape/Fred/George. Hahah. Not necessarily all at once, though.

Yes, I'd like that.
I actually do like Ginny, I just prefer Harry being gay.

I think I actually want everyone to be gay. In real life, too. It makes more sense to me for things to be that way.

But yes, Harry shouldn't take on all those males at once! That'd be exhuasted and there must be at least one male in the wizarding world able to sit down without wincing.
