Many of you are already on the Chix-Talkin-Fix yahoo group, a multi-fandom list devoted to the discussion of issues concerning reading and writing fan fiction and other forms of literature. jedirita has just posted an interesting topic for discussion on the list: MPAA Ratings and Fanfic. An excerpt:

Ratings on fic are pretty standard. Indeed, not only are they often required, but some people will only read fics of a certain rating. I can understand the desire to provide guidelines that help people decide whether to read a story or not, or that help parents decide if material is suitable for their children. But do ratings really
accomplish either task?
