Sep. 26th, 2005 04:15 pmI have questions today.
1. Why is it still over 100 degrees here and almost October?
2. Why is it that no matter what I do and how well I try to do it, I'm going to piss someone off?
3. Why does #2 bother me so much each and every time it happens? I should know better by now.
4. Why aren't there spam filters for your paper mail?
5. Why do the squirrels eat my bird food and the birds eat my squirrel food?
6. Why does time pass at warp speed when I'm cruising my f-list but slow as molasses when I'm grading papers?
Not expecting answers. Just asking... :-P

2. Because people, as a rule, tend to be persnickety.
3. Because you are one of those persnickety people. ;-) Or, maybe you're human, and it sucks when we do something that pisses someone off--ESPECIALLY when we didn't mean to.

Date: 2005-09-26 10:08 pm (UTC)Because there are people in the world that live for drama and angst, and if there isn't anything in their life that is dramatic or angsty they will generate something that is.
Umm... I don't know you all that well, but just from the question I can see you are compassionate and kind (if you weren't you wouldn't care)and it upsets you that someone may have been upset by something you said- even if they are being ridiculous.
Because there are not enough fairies who are willing to sit in your mailbox and zap the junk mail?
Squirrels are fuzzy diabolical experimental psychologists. They take sadistic delight in playing headgames that can't be won and teasing all comers to insanity. Mind you, having them visiting your yard is totally worth it IMO. :)
Because time flies when you're having fun.
P.S. Would pics of baby squirrels being bottle fed cheer you up?

Date: 2005-09-26 10:15 pm (UTC)The bird and squirrel feeders are mostly for the entertainment of my cats, so in the end it doesn't really matter where they're eating. It's just odd.
Baby squirrels? Cool!

I've read all the Harry Potter books and I'm a big fan so I think this is HYSTERICAL! My boyfriend got an email the other day informing us of this ongoing live journal discussion about my apparent resemblance to Draco Malfoy. There's a discussion board up and lots of screen caps of me from "Team Players"(the funny thing is this is actually my first look at the movie since I haven't gotten my copy yet). I'm linking to the site here, be warned there is a lot of nudity(my nudity, LOL).

answers - but only because the questions are interesting
Date: 2005-09-27 05:39 am (UTC)2. Independent minds and different experiences in life. Wouldn't it be horrible boring if each would think and feel the same? - Okay, it might lead to world peace, but really it would just be horrible dull.
3. You are human, you are a nice person, who obviously wants the best for all, but pleasing everyone is so idealistic that it almost never happens. (But I wish it would myself!)
4. post business, because some people have no internet, obtaining the e-mail address from a post address not applicable yet; Hmm, maybe you could make a sign outside or leave it at a post office: Please don't advertise through paper, use my e-mail instead.
Anyway, we've got this great service in Germany - you sign up (for free) and they take you off the lists where companies get their addresses from for advertising. You can then even sue legally if you still get spam paper mail. Look, if you got something like this in the USA.
I used to throw away 70% of my mail too before signing up.
5. variety and smell. And neither of those two species is very picky. But I have birds here too. The different species fight over the food I put outside - I changed the feeding device and now only the birds I want can get to the food. :) It's very nice to watch them when I turn my head from writing.
6. Time flies when you enjoy it and you are more distracted so you don't notice. But all your attention to time comes back when you HAVE to do something you don't really like.
Btw, Jeff Greenwald wrote something very accurate about the percieving of time and I totally agree with him. (It is actually on the difference between how you notice time in Nepal and western countries.) Summary: in Nepal time has quality - in US/Europe/.. it has quantity. If you are interested I can send you the quote (it's about 1/3 of a page). It is totally true and I had felt the same way when I was there for a couple of months.

3:As I said before, its easier to remember the bad than the good. But hell, Here I am! And I love you! Just one person, but more than you had a few moments ago, right?
4:Spam is tricky. both to block and to send. no matter what protection you may have, theres always a way around it. Even by postal service!
5: Just to Piss you off! I know this for a fact. I had the most beautiful bird feaders and pirches in my yards and the birds deliberatly ignored them. but the Squirrellles and RACCOONS had no problem with them. The Raccoons ttok to teasing my family by turning our water facets outside on in the wee hours. I KID YOU NOT! Those Buggers would turn them on and run just far enough away to goggle at us!
6:The next time your grading papers, send me a line, i'll send my squirrels and raccoons on over. I promise the time will not go so slowly!
(I'm not a teacher, but I do spend a great deal of time helping in english classrooms, and any distraction is good! perhaps even a bunny!)
