I have questions today.

1. Why is it still over 100 degrees here and almost October?

2. Why is it that no matter what I do and how well I try to do it, I'm going to piss someone off?

3. Why does #2 bother me so much each and every time it happens? I should know better by now.

4. Why aren't there spam filters for your paper mail?

5. Why do the squirrels eat my bird food and the birds eat my squirrel food?

6. Why does time pass at warp speed when I'm cruising my f-list but slow as molasses when I'm grading papers?

Not expecting answers. Just asking... :-P

Some answers. Cause I felt like being annoying helpful. ;-)

1. Because God is playing games with us. Clearly.

2. Because people, as a rule, tend to be persnickety.

3. Because you are one of those persnickety people. ;-) Or, maybe you're human, and it sucks when we do something that pisses someone off--ESPECIALLY when we didn't mean to.

4. I ask myself the SAME question daily.

5. Identity crises.

6. See the answer to number one.

Are you in California too? If so, the answer is either a. because you're in California or b. because the whole state is a desert or c. all of the above. I think it's referred to as an 'Indian Summer' in some places.

Because there are people in the world that live for drama and angst, and if there isn't anything in their life that is dramatic or angsty they will generate something that is.

Umm... I don't know you all that well, but just from the question I can see you are compassionate and kind (if you weren't you wouldn't care)and it upsets you that someone may have been upset by something you said- even if they are being ridiculous.

Because there are not enough fairies who are willing to sit in your mailbox and zap the junk mail?

Squirrels are fuzzy diabolical experimental psychologists. They take sadistic delight in playing headgames that can't be won and teasing all comers to insanity. Mind you, having them visiting your yard is totally worth it IMO. :)

Because time flies when you're having fun.

Texas, actually. It has been this hot since May. :-P

The bird and squirrel feeders are mostly for the entertainment of my cats, so in the end it doesn't really matter where they're eating. It's just odd.

I've read all the Harry Potter books and I'm a big fan so I think this is HYSTERICAL! My boyfriend got an email the other day informing us of this ongoing live journal discussion about my apparent resemblance to Draco Malfoy. There's a discussion board up and lots of screen caps of me from "Team Players"(the funny thing is this is actually my first look at the movie since I haven't gotten my copy yet). I'm linking to the site here, be warned there is a lot of nudity(my nudity, LOL).

1. a) because it's Texas and b) because of Rita: "NEAR RECORD TEMPERATURES WITH HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES AS A RESULT OF RECENT RAINFALL WILL HELP GENERATE AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 105 TO 115 DEGREES ACROSS ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS FOR THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON AND FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON." I'm in College Station, it's 7:15, and it's 101 degrees outside. W. T. F. I work at a summer camp--it didn't get near this hot all summer. And it's even worse being at A&M because I have to walk around campus all day. >.<

5. Do your squirrels have radio collars? A&M's does and it makes 'em do waaaacky things. So either radio waves degenerating their brains...or squirrels are just mindfuckers and the birds eat what's left.

1. 'Cause it's southern Texas and we don't abide by the laws of natural weather down here. We laugh in the face of 'seasons.'

2. Because you can never please everyone 100% of the time, but if it's any consolation, you do a pretty good job of pleasing about 99% of us 99% percent of the.

3. Because you are just the sweetest thing and you deserve a cookie. ::points to icon::

4. Because that would be stifling of free expression and that's wrong. It's their right to fill our mailboxes with as much trash as they want, screw that it kills trees and most people don't even bother to flip through it. Damn trees probably deserved to die anyway.

5. Because there's not much room for a brain up there in that tiny skull of theirs.

0.5 - I like that Neville icon. I think it totally fits the questions.

1. Dunno. Way not fair (I won't tell you about my weather - it will just depress you)

2. Because everyone is different. Can't please everyone all the time.

3. Yeah, me too. I take everything so personally. I continually work on picking the things I need to react to and not worry about the small stuff.

4. AGREED!! WANTS ONE!!

5. Because the grass always seems greener on the other side.

6. Because you don't notice time when you do something you enjoy. My work days seem to be like that, too.

I hope you enjoy my platitudes of the day. :P

1. Weeeell, I COULD give you an answer, but since it (climatology) was part of my study (I'm an environmental engineer) it would probably be too long and scientific to post here. By the way: it's very warm here in Europe as well - we had the highest temperatures in the last 25 years in September! And it's still a lot warmer than usual.

2. Independent minds and different experiences in life. Wouldn't it be horrible boring if each would think and feel the same? - Okay, it might lead to world peace, but really it would just be horrible dull.

3. You are human, you are a nice person, who obviously wants the best for all, but pleasing everyone is so idealistic that it almost never happens. (But I wish it would myself!)

4. post business, because some people have no internet, obtaining the e-mail address from a post address not applicable yet; Hmm, maybe you could make a sign outside or leave it at a post office: Please don't advertise through paper, use my e-mail instead.
Anyway, we've got this great service in Germany - you sign up (for free) and they take you off the lists where companies get their addresses from for advertising. You can then even sue legally if you still get spam paper mail. Look, if you got something like this in the USA.
I used to throw away 70% of my mail too before signing up.

5. variety and smell. And neither of those two species is very picky. But I have birds here too. The different species fight over the food I put outside - I changed the feeding device and now only the birds I want can get to the food. :) It's very nice to watch them when I turn my head from writing.

6. Time flies when you enjoy it and you are more distracted so you don't notice. But all your attention to time comes back when you HAVE to do something you don't really like.
Btw, Jeff Greenwald wrote something very accurate about the percieving of time and I totally agree with him. (It is actually on the difference between how you notice time in Nepal and western countries.) Summary: in Nepal time has quality - in US/Europe/.. it has quantity. If you are interested I can send you the quote (it's about 1/3 of a page). It is totally true and I had felt the same way when I was there for a couple of months.

re 4: Also here in Finland it's possible to sign on a list for not getting spam. Or, if we're too lazy too do that, we may put a sign on our mailbox that says "No adverts, thanks" or "no spam" or something, which means that atleast those adverts that are delivered to everyone don't find their way to our mailbox. I don't know if you can do this over there, but maybe it's worth trying?

1:Did you not pay attention to the Tsunami disaster? it in fact shifted the earths accise. only by less than .00018% but this is one big ass planet! Canada and the northern americas will be looking like Cali and Mexico!

2:You must not live in America. that is our clarion call! don't worry about those that abuse you, pay attention to those that praise you! (I know it easier to think of the bad ramarks than the good, but the good are so much more heartfelt!)

3:As I said before, its easier to remember the bad than the good. But hell, Here I am! And I love you! Just one person, but more than you had a few moments ago, right?

4:Spam is tricky. both to block and to send. no matter what protection you may have, theres always a way around it. Even by postal service!

5: Just to Piss you off! I know this for a fact. I had the most beautiful bird feaders and pirches in my yards and the birds deliberatly ignored them. but the Squirrellles and RACCOONS had no problem with them. The Raccoons ttok to teasing my family by turning our water facets outside on in the wee hours. I KID YOU NOT! Those Buggers would turn them on and run just far enough away to goggle at us!

6:The next time your grading papers, send me a line, i'll send my squirrels and raccoons on over. I promise the time will not go so slowly!
(I'm not a teacher, but I do spend a great deal of time helping in english classrooms, and any distraction is good! perhaps even a bunny!)
