ETA: Hi, people. Just so you know, I am MOCKING the man here. I'm enjoying an opportunity to make fun of him. I'm not making any deep political statements. It's simply funny -- and if you can't see that, maybe you should take a step back for a moment.

Considering that any move by him to absent himself during UN proceedings might be construed as a meaningful diplomatic slight, what else did you expect him to do? Sheesh. The guy can't get a break from the press, it seems, bathroom or otherwise.

It's just bizarre and silly that he had to write a note about it to his National Security Advisor. Surely they could work out a better system than that? Would it kill him to seem a little tiny bit dignified and presidential? Besides, the sessions do have breaks. He could have done what anyone in a long meeting has to do every day and plan accordingly.

He's not getting a break from me -- not after everything he's done to drag my my country down in the last few years.

I'm not a Bush-supporter by any means, but I have to agree. Any US president would have to do things like that at a summit -- it's not like he can just get up and walk out at any time. He has to take his Secret Service detail with him.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize the man. This isn't one.

I usually agree with you, but this time I just can't see where you're coming from. How does his need to relieve himself have anything to do with your confidence in him as a president? The guy's not getting any younger and neither is his bladder. I actually feel bad for him in this one case, and I never thought I'd say that.

Plus, we don't know whether he wrote the top portion of the note or was responding to it.

It's not the fact that he had to go bathroom; it's writing a note to his National Security Advisor about it. It's funny that the leader of the free world has to, "Condi, I gotta pee!" He almost seems to intentionally cultivate his bozo image.

I enjoy mocking him. He gets no slack from me, not any more.

Er. Great. Bush had to pee. Why is this shocking. Him writing a note about it is better than what I would have done which is stand up and say, "I have to pee," and waltz out of the room. Imagine what kind of confidence that would have given you!

but its a funny picture anyway

Oh that's hilarious. I mean it's like we don't even have to try anymore.

Off topic, I actually sort've have a question about the copy of LMH you'd had gifted to you as a book. A friend of mine wanted to compile a short bound copy of several of her favorite short fics by her favorite authors but she's unsure of the legality of that and how that works with copyright because she'd be paying for the bound copy, but also how that would work with the individual authors. I know you obviously can't speak for them, but I knew you'd had a copy of your fic given to you and I've heard of other writers having the same thing done so I was wondering what your thoughts on this were.

Date: 2005-09-17 01:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] emmagrant01.livejournal.com
Well, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. It sounds like she will be printing out and binding together some fics for her own personal use. I can't see anything wrong with that. If she were going to make a bunch of them and sell them, it might be different.

Does that help?

I think this line of conversation is hilarious. Seriously hilarious. Above, we were asked about freedom of speech, so I'll ask this, since when is W exempt from being mocked? Do we not all remember the million and one blowjob jokes that went around?

Public figures, irregardless of whether they are the President or Paris Hilton exist and must realize that they will be mocked for bad hair, horrible shoes or writing lame-ass notes asking permission to go the bathroom.

The photographer taking a picture of this is a lot less offensive than the guy who pointed his camera into Gary Hart's windows of his private residence and took pictures of him having sex with someone other than his wife when he was running for the party nomination.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of hearing about how I need to get in line and not say a thing against him because he's our President and we're in the middle of a war. To put it bluntly, Fuck that shit. Everytime I hear this crap about how we shouldn't tease or badmouth the President and to get in line and support the war or I'm supporting the terrorist, I think of Nazi Germany.

I've sat through 14 years of Bill Clinton getting mocked and blamed for everything that happens. Turnabout is fair play. Republican's can't have it both ways, either the President is allowed to be mocked (regardless of party affiliation) or he's not.

This picture is funny, simple as that. Thanks for the laugh and I apologize for the rant on your lj.
