For those of you who have a Kindle, how easy is it to put, say, fanfic on it? I am imagining that I could c&p fics into txt files or even download them as pdfs, and then put them on a Kindle to read wherever. That would be amazingly awesome. :-)

I'm having a little trouble finding an answer via google, oddly. Can anyone advise?

ETA: My flist knows all! ♥

Waah.

The Gmail Manager extension for Firefox seems to have stopped working for me ever since my last Firefox upgrade. It still keeps track of email in each account, but it no longer goes to the selected account when I click on it. I just checked and there hasn't been an update.

That's my favorite extension, too. :-(

Edit: Yay, fixed! :-D

If you don't have your message settings set up to notify you when you are invited to join a community, you might think about doing so. And then you should check to see if someone has invited you to join a community.

I'm just sayin'. >_>

Uh... is anyone else having trouble commenting from their flist? When I click "comment", it just seems to reload the page and doesn't open up the commenting page. If I open the post itself in a new tab, I can comment, but not from my flist. :-/

ETA: Seems to be fixed now.

Unlike what seems to be 90% of my flist, I luuurve the LJ navigation bar. It allows me to use my different filters really easily and lets me see if I have someone friended without having to click away from their journal.

And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy posting this code, you can easily customize the colors to match your LJ layout! *is happy*

Since I changed my layout, two people have told me they can't see my text without highlighting it. On my screen (and presumably most everone else's), the background for the posts is light green while the text is black, so there's quite a bit of contrast, but apparently a few people see the text the same color as the background.

I've never heard of that problem before! Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

For some weird reason, the Gmail Manager extension stopped working yesterday. But I went to the site and noticed that a new version was available, dated from yesterday. I installed that, and now Gmail manager is working again! *clings*

That's one Firefox extension I can't live without!

ETA: The new version has a bug, but you can download the fix for it here: http://www.longfocus.com/firefox/gmanager/releases/gmanager-fix.xpi

I've been listening to podcasts lately. I have a bit of a commute to work, and I had thought it would be fun to listen to HP fic read-alouds and such along the way -- but it turns out that not many people have done podcasts of their fic. (I've only done the one myself so far.) So instead, I went looking for HP-related podcasts.

I found the two biggest and most popular ones right away: Mugglecast (associated with Mugglenet) and Pottercast (associated with The Leaky Cauldron). I've been listening to both for about a month now (they come out weekly).

So what do I think? Well... )

You know what we need? A slash-oriented podcast. )

ETA: It looks like we might be onto something here. Plans are being made for a slashcast! Stay tuned... .>.>

From http://www.w3schools.com/, which is becoming my new BFF:

Customer: "I want to download the Internet. Do I need a bigger hard disk?"
Response: Download the internet here.

On a more serious note, I am ripping my hair out trying to figure out how to set TinyMCE to change URLs entered in text fields to active links in eFiction. Anybody know? Help?

Art!

The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] mayflo drew art for STG!

Draco this way )

I also have a technical question: I have tinkered with the banner on my page and turned it into something I want to use for my background image on my LJ. (You can see it here.) But I can't seem to get it to work, since it's not a jpeg or a gif file, but an html file. Does anyone have any suggestions?

ETA: To clarify: I've made an image map, but I have no idea how to embed it in my style. Does anyone know?

ETA2: I must be a total idiot, because I have NO IDEA how this is supposed to help me put an image map on my LJ. Ack. Where does the code go?

And why am I wasting my time on this when I could be writing?
