New community!

Thank you for all of your responses to the poll about a comm for novel-length fanfiction writing! I considered everything carefully, and did some research to determine what comms are already out there, just to be certain we weren't needlessly duplicating something that already exists.

I'm proud to announce the formation of the novel_fanfic community! Check out the rules and purpose of the comm here, and if it looks like fun to you, come join! Be sure to introduce yourself. I'm excited about this, and I hope people will find it a useful and supportive community.


A few things:
1. There seem to be plenty of places to pimp and rec fic, so that isn't going to be the focus of this community. I put together a short list of places where writers can pimp their own fic here. There doesn't seem to be one community focused on announcements for new chapters of WIPs. I didn't include pairing-specific comms, because that would have taken forever! If you know of any others I haven't listed, please let me know.
2. Because of the focus on writing and the impassioned pleas of folks who write in fandoms other than HP, the comm is open to writers from multiple fandoms. However, I expect that most of us will be HP fen! ;-)

Please feel free to pimp novel_fanfic to anyone you think might be interested! Take the banner, if you like.

Hi - I started reading your fic 'Left My Heart' but for some bizzare reason my laptop won't let me access it. I'm loving it so far, and I'd really like to continue reading it. How weird! I have no idea why it would be doing that. I just checked it myself and didn't have a problem. My host is slashcity, so it could be possible that they were doing maintenence or something at the same time as you were trying to access the fic. Have you tried again? It's also available on Skyhawke, btw: http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=4093. Try to access it there, and if you still can't seem to get to it, let me know.

This is great! I don't know if you know of the HP novel I recently wrote, but there are a number of things that are stopping me from getting it to the betas and posting it. Insecurities, you know? So this comm - a place to discuss all these worries - is fantastic! Thanks!
