Please indulge me while I make a little announcement.

I can hardly believe it, but the final draft of Left My Heart has just been sent to beta. The rewrite was a very big project, much bigger than I'd anticipated! I got so much wonderful constructive criticism from people on the first draft, and I really, truly appreciate it! I'm very happy with the way the final version has turned out. I hope people will be interested in reading it when it's posted! Thanks in advance to [livejournal.com profile] jedirita, [livejournal.com profile] littlesnitch, (ETA:) [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_ and [livejournal.com profile] devon_may for taking a look at the final draft for me.

And this means... I can finally start writing the sequel! Yay! When I post the final version of LMH, I'll let you know when to expect to see that start. I anticipate posting parts on Wednesday mornings this time around. I might even post a little cookie soon! Stay tuned, and thank you so much for your support and patience. I know this was promised a while back...

Oh, this is good. :) But, I also have a question: how much will the final version of LMH differ from the WIP version? Just grammar-wise, or like mega plot change? Well, whatever way, I look forward to reading it.

Something in between, actually. I had a lot of issues with the WIP-iness of rough draft. The characters were spotty in places, and their behavior was frequently inconsistent or not well-motivated. So my main focus in the rewrite was to clean up the characterizations, for the most part. It's mostly subtle, but I think it changes the feel of the story to an extent. And it changes it in a way *I* think is great -- I think the story works much more smoothly now. There aren't any WTF? moments anymore, and the rough draft seemed to be riddled with them.

I also added a few scenes in places where there seemed to be something missing, and the ending was altered very slightly (for purposes of the sequel). Some little things were dropped in that I'll need for the sequel, too... :-D

Of course, I have a fear that people who loved the first version won't like it! *wibbles*

Well, any changes--minor or large--will be noticed, but it will most likely be for the best.

That's understandable...as long as the ending for LMH is still happy. I was so emotional while reading it. I had a friend come over to drop off some papers and he walked in, saw me crying, and got all awkward.

See what your fics do to us poor, sweet, innocent little fangirls?

Sweetie, if you wrote it, then there is no way it can be bad or unliked. It will be different, but it will still hold the magical quality of LMH.

...and are you going to be posting the rewrite as a WIP?

Just to clarify, the fic hasn't really changed in any substantial way. Just cleaned up, streamlined, etc. It's hard to describe! Sort of like the difference between the rough and final drafts of Tissue of Silver, I guess.

I was planning to post the final version on my webpage and on Skyehawke, and then just make announcements everywhere including those two links. Why, do you think I should post it in parts?

My very unbias opinion

No, I definately do not want you to post it in parts! lol. The waiting would kill me. I was just curious, is all.
