So far, I'm really loving this technique. I've recently started knitting socks using Magic Loop, and I've always wanted to try two at once. I'm really enamored with the idea of getting them both done at the same time!  If these work out well, I've got some gorgeous yarn that [livejournal.com profile] helens78 gave me, and I'm going to knit a more complicated pair with that.

Beautiful!

I love magic loop knitting. I've knit all sorts of dolls and toys and gloves that way. :)

Oh, I miss knitting. There aren't really any yarn shops here. Or if there are, I don't know where to find them.

I'm still working out of my stash, though there are some great yarn stores here. I have so much yarn I need to use that I'm afraid to go visit one!

I've been knitting flat things for years, but only just recently unearthed my grandma's double-pointed needles and got into making socks. What the heck is magic loop, some sort of technique with circular needles?

Magic Loop is a way of knitting socks in the round using one really long circular needle. If you're curious about how it works, there are great videos on YouTube you can search for. I'm really enjoying it for a change from dpns!

Hmm, I may not be looking at the right video... But it looks like it's just a way to make ONE sock, it doesn't say anything about doing two at once. Is that just with two different skeins, or what?

Oh, sorry for the confusion! Magic Loop is just the technique of using one long circular instead of a set of dpns or two circulars. And then you can make two socks at once using Magic Loop too. You have two balls of yarn and you just alternate between each sock on every round. They end up being much more identical than they often do when you make them one at a time, since they have the exact same number of rounds. It's pretty cool!

I've always wanted to try two at once.

What the hell is wrong with me? ;-) Oh no, now I'm getting cracktastic knitting smut bunnies involving Magic Loops.

All right, back to editing the Sorting roundtable. That must be my problem. Audacity poisoning. :-) I just got past your mention of Lesbian Spank Inferno.

I can't remember what I said in that segment. I hope it's somewhat coherent!

I ought to be finished with it and uploading later today. I just have to re-record what I raved about Moffat since that part was completely muffled and inaudible. I don't know if my deep love for him caused me to mess up the mike somehow or if someone who doesn't like Moffat cast a Muffliato on me!

Thanks! I'm still getting used to knitting toe-up, and the heel turns still feel a little weird to me. :-P

I am so in awe of anyone who knits socks!. I can barely knit gloves. I actually started a pair for myself, and abandoned after making one of them. So the poor glove is still waiting for its partner. And magic loop? I think that's jedi level knitting. Anyway. All that *gestures towards all of the photo* looks pretty cool.

It's funny that you say that, because socks were one of the first non-scarf things I learned to knit, but gloves were the things I really wanted to make! I finally found a pattern somewhere and made some, but they had all these ugly gaps between the fingers. I made several pairs and got better, but I never felt like they turned out particularly well. Have any tips to share?

Ugh, the holes between fingers.. Yeah no, I am still trying to be better at gloves. Basically I have to have something that's less piece-wise! I mean I get irritated while knitting fingers separately! I have made raglan baby sweaters, exactly because there are less pieces to make and join.

Ooh, I love them!

I learned how to knit years ago but never mustered up the courage to make socks. This looks like a fun method to try, though!

Squee! They look great! And hee, that stitch marker. I must have hundreds of those around the house, they're my absolute favorite!

How are you liking the needles you're using? Are those Addis?
