Ten years ago yesterday, I started posting my first ever Harry/Draco fic, Left My Heart.

I started writing it on a whim, without reading a lot in the fandom (as is typical for me), and later learned that I’d done all the things HP fanfic writers weren’t supposed to do: make the boys adults (this was just after book 5), set the fic in the US, write lots of OCs, show the boys having sex with OCs before finally getting them together, and so on. But I was new in that fandom and I didn’t know the rules, and all I really wanted to do was write my story. So I posted chapters to my LJ and thought just my friends would read it. Quite a lot of people read it, in the end, and many of them even enjoyed it. Amazingly enough, ten years later, I still get comments on it.

So Happy Birthday, LMH! And may that Harry and Draco live happily ever after. :-)

Happy Birthday, LMH!

This story had a huge impact on me all those years ago, and still has its own personal space in perpetuity in my heart. It even influenced the agenda of our first trip to SF - we actually stayed at the Inn on Castro while we were there. Turned out to be a fantastic choice, and they didn't bat an eyelash at having a (mostly) straight couple staying.

I think I may need to read it again in honour of this milestone.

Add this to my birthday coming up at the end of the month and yeah, I am feeling a bit old, lol. Guess I must have bucked the 'what it should be' trend since most of my favourite HP fics have all been post-Hogwarts, and even with all of the wonderful fic I have read since LMH remains in my top 10 favourite H/D fics.

I remember the first time I read this. It wasn't like anything else I'd read at the time. I also remember reading Surrender The Grey as you posted the last couple of chapters. These stories have been added to each of the 4 e-readers I've owned. Thank you for not following the rules and writing a story that will always be in my top ten.

Left My Heart and Surrender the Grey are STILL two of my all-time favorite fics. Thank you for making all those mistakes that you mentioned above. Your fics were definitely ahead of their time and are truly classics in the HD fandom.

Another of your fics that doesn't get near enough recognition is Chocolate Head. I remember when you wrote that after LJ had done a free token weekend of the chocolate head icon. And the podfic of it read by curlee_cue is just spot on.

Thanks for many, many hours of entertaining HD reading you have given me over the years!

Recently I've had the urge to re-read old H/D fic favorites, so LMH and STG are definitely on that list. If I remember correctly, you had already finished LMH by the time I found it but I do remember reading STG weekly when you posted the new chapters. It's special because nowadays I never read wips anymore, not just because they might not be finished eventually but also because people seldom post wip chapters as regularly as you did and I would end up forgetting the previous stuff along the way. It's a pity because reading STG as it was posted was such a fun experience and brightened the whole week. So yeah, thank you for writing LMH and STG, posting them regularly and finishing them. I loved them a lot. :)

Oh god. I'm not that old! That can not be. Happy anniversary anyway!
I have to say that after the first time I've red these fics over and over again. It never gets old. At the time I started reading these kind of fics I often felt alone, my friends weren't that interested. Now couple of weeks ago in university we started talking about writing in general and some how ended up with fan fiction and now I know that my professor has red your fics and it feels wonderful!
