I'm gonna reserve comment until I get a few more slices of fic, I think! But I'm still reading and still enjoying it, though there are a few bits and pieces that are making me raise my eyebrows. ("Did Emma just write a soul bond story??")

"Did Emma just write a soul bond story??"

Oh, fuck, no! *laughing* Here, I think, is a great example of the interpretation being different from what the author intended! It honestly did not occur to me that it would be interpreted that way! I guess that's because I know where all of this is going, and

"Did Emma just write a soul bond story??"

Oh, fuck, no! *laughing* Here, I think, is a great example of the interpretation being different from what the author intended! It honestly did not occur to me that it would be interpreted that way! I guess that's because I know where all of this is going, and <emI don't believe in soul bonds, as a matter of principle.

What's happened here is that Obi-Wan has actually been physically and psychically (word?) injured by being separated from Anakin. More explanation on that will be coming. Siri is just trying to find a way to keep him going, and she's forced to choose between keeping certain boundaries between them intact (and if she did nothing, he might have continued to get worse) and trying to help him in a very intimate way.

Hmmm... maybe I should explain myself a bit, and you can tell me if you buy it, or if it's really not working.

Spoiler:
In the next part, we'll find out what's happened to Anakin and Ferus. Clearly, they've been cut off from the Force somehow. There are lots of fics about how this affects a person, but I haven't seen anything that deals with how it must feel to a person on the other side of a training bond. The idea here is that Obi and Ani have an abnormally strong training bond, mostly because Obi and Qui did as well, and Obi acquired Ani so quickly after Qui's death that he just sort of substituted Ani's very strong presence in the place where Qui's used to be. Of course, Anakin being the attention-starved-vergeance-in-the-Force that he his, grabbed onto the that bond from the other direction and it got even stronger. A few parts bck when Obi first feels the separation, he notes that Ani is always there in his mind, and I'm asserting that this is not normal. Obi-Wan doesn't really realize it, though. (The interesting thing is that Ani can shield against him better than he can shield against Ani.) This will be discussed more clearly later on. At this point, Siri is starting to realize that something is very unusual about the relationship between Obi and Ani, and she'll ask Obi about it later. Notice that Siri was affected by losing contact with Ferus, but not to the extent that Obi was. We'll see a parallel with Ani and Ferus in the next part.

So, the story is supposed to be about Obi-Wan realising how precarious his relationship with Anakin is, and having to ask for Siri's help. At the moment, he has to rely on Siri, who is adjusting to the situation much better than he is for reasons listed above. The whole situtaion is supposed to throw them together in intimate settings and provide opportunities for them to deepen their friendship. This will hopefully lead fairly naturally to a more intimate physical relationship. Siri is going to be pretty wary of that now, given Obi-Wan's condition. She's going to take the leadership role in this situation, which is a bit different from what we see of her in JQ. Obi's usually in charge there.

Similarly, Anakin is going to really have to learn to trust and rely on Ferus, which will be very hard for him. That's a whole other thing, though, and the set up somes in the next part.

Poor Obi-Wan. This is the second time he as had a training bond abruptly severed. I can understand how he is acting suffering from the loss of the bond.
