Pottermore, one more time

I woke up at 4:57 this morning for some unknown reason, and so I decided to grab my phone off the nightstand and see what was going on on Pottermore. Nothing yet, which made me think hey, maybe I can actually see the clue today. I checked again at 5:02, and the clue was up.

So I grabbed a copy of POA, figured out the answer, opened up my computer and started trying to find that quill. For a solid half-hour I got nothing but that auto-refresh page. I whined about this on Twitter, ended up chatting to kriken, and only then found out I had the wrong answer anyway. Despite all of my academic and professional qualifications, I hadn't read the damn question carefully enough. AHEAD. (Though in my defense, I swear the text said "Gryffindor is ahead by 80 points to 20" and you can see how I could miss that in a quick read at 5:00 am...) Still, my students are going to get a laugh out of that one.

So I start trying again, this time with the correct answer. In the meantime, the very kind __hibiscus, having gotten through to the actual registration page herself, took pity on me and offered to register me. I may have squeed a little (quietly, because everyone in my house was happily still asleep), and sent her my info.

Of course, at that point, I finally managed to get through and saw the quill. It took me another ten minutes to figure out how to levitate it. By the time I finally got the link to the registration page, registration was closed. Of course, __hibiscus had already registered me, yay!

But seriously, I think I'm a Squib. How did I manage to fuck that up at every possible step? I think I will try again just to redeem myself, then offer up a registration on Twitter. :-P

I at first couldn't find the quill at all, because my adblock add on blocked the graphic, I almost went insane, because I couldn't find "that purple box on the right" everyone was talking about. XD So don't feel bad. Talked to someone else a little while ago and they had trouble as well XD

I totally forgot to add that part! Yeah, I couldn't see the quill in firefox, and didn't realize what I was missing until someone on twitter mentioned that firefox didn't work. Switched to IE after that.

Now that I know how it works, I hope to have a chance to do it again. ;-)

The reg. times have been during my sleep time, and sadly with a good job I need my sleep. I check each morning but always get reg is closed. Oh well. I can wait until Oct. I guess.

Ugh, I know. (See my last post where I whine about this.) I have no idea why I woke up a few minutes before the clue was posted today! I only lost an hour of sleep, which I actually made up for inadvertently by going to bed early last night. :-P

Heh. I'm really bad at not reading the whole question before trying to answer. The knowledge of which was useful this morning when my first answer didn't work and I decided to reread the question before becoming frustrated XD

Not that it helped since I was in the middle of my weekly 3 hr drive to work and there was no way to levitate the quill using my phone browser :/

Huh. I didn't even realize we were supposed to levitate the quill. I must have just moved my mouse the right way, waiting for it to float up onto my screen again. Talk about dumb luck. :)

I did the exact same thing . . . what was the correct answer? Dude, I even set my ALARM for 3:30 a.m. So I missed out :( I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait until October when all the numpty people can manage to register themselves at a leisurely, non-competitive pace. I don't think Ravenclaw is calling my name . . .

The answer was 2100, (80-20)35. Nearly missed subtracting the 20 myself.

RATS! I totally missed the subtraction part. I got 2800 by multiplying 80 by 35. If I get in tomorrow, I'll have to pay better attention to the clue. *shakes fist*

I first tried on my laptop that I had set up and ready beside my bed for when I got the alert that the clue was up. Then I thought it was my touchpad and ran to my PC. COULDN'T GET IT THERE EITHER. Ran back to the laptop and swirled it angrily in frustration, having just woken up BF who never did get back to sleep, and got in.

OMG!! I laughed so hard reading about the quill - I had the exact SAME problem with the quill. FFS....I kept clicking on it and clicking on it.

I did manage to register, however. I was really starting to think I was a Squib too!!

So glad I wasn't the only dope unable to function at 5 am!!
