Watched DH1 last night

I saw something I'd never seen before. In the scene at Malfoy Manor when Bellatrix is questioning Griphook, the camera catches a long dark curly piece of hair floating through the air and landing on Hermione's coat. Hermione follows it with her eyes for a second. I didn't see that in any of the previous dozen or so viewings, but I thought it was a cool detail. And obviously important in part 2.

And now a bunch of people will comment to say, "Duh, I saw that the first time and 137 people posted meta about it last November." But hey, it was new to me!

I had totally forgotten that Hermione polyjuices as Bellatrix until I read something about the filming of that s nee recently. I think that's why UT caught my eye this time. ;-)

lol. I remember that from last time. BUT I did see lots of flashes of Dumbledore's wand, quite recognizable if you've ever browsed the Noble collection, in Harry's visions and dreams.

It's cool how often there are closeup shots of the Elder wand! Last night my husband kept asking me questions like, why doesn't Dumbledore just tell Harry about the wand? And that the sword can destroy horcruxes? He has no appreciation for the story. :-P

I caught that when I saw it in the theatre the other night, when they re-played DH1 before the midnight showing of DH2 :-) I didn't notice it all the times I've seen DH1 before either.

Yeah I noticed it although it wasn't the first time. I think I caught it maybe the 2nd or 3rd time through. :)

I totally didn't see that, but will go back to look for it. I had a really hard time understanding Bellatrix's dialogue in that scene; I actually had to use the subtitles to fully get what she was saying half the time. She just speaks so quickly and has such a thick accent.

There's definitely a thick accent there! One of the things I love about that film is how many subtle canon details are in there. It's done so well, so that those who've read the books will see them, and those who haven't won't be overwhelmed.

And I should say I've seen this movie probably close to 100 times, no kidding. I'm almost always watching one of the HP films or another. They're great background noise.

FWIW, I didn't notice it but I think it's supercool that they thought that detail out like that. M and I watched the movie again last night in prep for tonight, though, and a bunch of teeny details caught my eye that hadn't before. Can't remember what they were, exactly, but they left an impression.
