I've been away from the HP fandom for three years, more or less, and one of my fears about getting involved again was that there would be no one left to squee about H/D stuff with. I am so, SO happy that this was not the case. I mean seriously, check out this list of planned H/D fests in the next year (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11).

The H/D part of fandom is still amazingly active, and though it's definitely a smaller community than it was five years ago, it feels tighter somehow. It seems like everyone knows everyone else, and I haven't yet sensed the same level of politics and BNF-ery that there used to be. Maybe it's there and I just haven't seen it yet, but I sincerely hope not.

I'm so excited to be back, and so grateful that everyone has been so incredibly welcoming. I'm looking forward to getting to know new friends and reading and writing lots of fic!

I was so amazed by H/D Hols this year, and by the sheer number of amazing fics written by people I'd never heard of. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that so many new people had found their way into the fandom, but somehow I was, with canon being closed for 3.5 years. It's interesting how different my flist is than it was a few years ago. :-)

yeah, i feel that editing the prophet has helped me keep in touch with h/d fandom and with seeing new writers and artists emerge. my flist at its core is the same as three years ago, but i've added people from other fandoms as i've gotten into them (especially when i got into merlin).
