On my web site, the "Buffy Diaries" (which aren't even fic -- they're a set of essays I wrote while watching my way through Buffy for the first time a few years back) have a higher read count than "Left My Heart". In fact, the only thing on my site with a higher read count is "Surrender the Grey".

Seriously? Is that a weird fluke, or are the Buffy Diaries really that interesting?

*iz confused*

Meta has a wider audience appeal and thus tends to get linked from far more places than fic.

Wow, really? I would never have guessed!

Well, on LJ fic has a wider appeal, but out there in the wider jungle of fan-forums and general TV boards, meta tends to draw more interest just by virtue of being "neutral" in ways fanfic is not. A lot of fanfic serves niche auidences (in terms of pairing, rating, theme -- which is why someone who's a well-known writer of a particular pairing can draw a "who's that?" from someone who doesn't ship that pairing at all) whereas meta on episode 104 can be equally interesting to a Spuffy shipper and a Spangel shipper. I'm pretty sure if the HP Wiki or HPL publicised their access logs, they'd show far more visitors than the most popular HP fics on ff.net.

Can't get into the site. It's locked up tight. Says Denied, even though I list you as a friend. :(

Hmm, there's nothing locked there. It's just an e-fiction site, and it's completely public. What were you trying to do when you were denied?

I just clicked it and got the same thing. It may be that that link has always been broken, heh. Here's the correct one: http://emmagrant01.livejournal.com/tag/buffy%20diaries

I think the statistics can only tell you how often the page is loaded or the link is clicked, not if the person then actually stays and reads what's there. All this says is Buffy is still a super popular search topic. On the other hand, people coming for LMH are searching for H/D fanfic, so even though fewer ppl came to those pages, maybe more actually stayed and read?

Good point. Too bad the version of e-fiction I have doesn't break down read counts by chapter, because that would tell either way.

It's so funny you mention this now, I've just started rewatching Buffy online over the past few days, since I realized I never got to see the Musical episode.

My most popular fic is still a Harry/Hermione one-off I wrote to spite a friend (and to prove I could write pairings that I abhorred). IDGI.

Weird how these things happen, yeah?

Seriously! Every time I get a notification that someone has favorited it, I just want to reach through my computer and shake them.

Irony can SMD. :3 I'll go strap it on right now.

Well, Warner Bros recently noted they are bringing back the BtVS franchise in a reboot type of project, still in the planning stage.

Also, there's the "Vampire Diaries" being insanely popular, and the name is close.

/speculating about causality. :D

In fact, Buffy Season 8 has a serious... plot point named Twilight.
