emmagrant01: (Dan smoking (Equus))

This is probably not new news to anyone here, but it was new to me when DH sent me the link.

Apparently Dan Radcliffe is taking voice and dance lessons to gear up for a possible starring role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway.

Well, Matthew Broderick did it, so it's not like you have to be a stellar vocal performer to pull it off, but you do have to be able to dance. And it's a HUGE role, too. Is DR really ready to carry a show like that? I guess we'll find out...

That kind of blows my mind, and maybe not in a good way? But uh, I guess at worst it will be lollarious and at best it will actually be good, so there's really no losing here. :D

At this point, I'm guessing he'll probably pull it off. He seems to have done everything else he set out to do. And he's clearly not doing it for the money, so he must really want to give it a try!

Lessons are good. Maybe when he's trained up he'll be good. Or maybe he'll take up fishing.

Honestly I don't care a bit if he's crap in the role, but I suspect he won't be because he really gave a credible performance in Equus and he's very dedicated to the craft. However, I just love going to see shows with Dan so I have another excuse for a fandom meet-up. So it's all good as far as I'm concerned. And the fact that it's a musical is just a bonus. ;D

Oh gosh. I would love to see this. My school did a production of this in high school. :D

I saw it ages ago with Matthew Broderick, and it was really adorable! I'm having trouble picturing Dan in that role, but I don't doubt that he could pull this off.

This would be so awesome. Ralph Macchio did the touring cast I saw and he was... good. So. Yeah.
