Holiday exchange recs

I seriously can't remember the last time I sat down at my computer with the intention of just reading fic. I haven't had that much free time in months, heh. So though I should be grading, I gave myself a little break this morning and decided to get started reading some exchange fics. I started with December 1, but then ended up shifting forward when it became obvious that the comments dropped off pretty sharply after a week. Here's what I've especially enjoyed so far:
How Ron Weasley Learned to Tolerate Kimchi and Draco Malfoy. (Ron/Draco, set in Korea post-war) This is a pairing I usually don't read much of, but the premise sounded intriguing, and I'm really glad I read it. The writing and characterization are fantastic, and this author does a great job with the slow reveal. I enjoy fics that put the canon characters in foreign settings, and this one really captured the feeling of being a tourist in an Asian country, IMO. Oh, and hot. ;-)
Edit: The recipient,
glockgal, created a gorgeous piece of art to go with this fic. (Totally worksafe.)
Suppliance of a Minute. (Dumbledore/Grindelwald, set long, long ago) I have been wanting to read more of this pairing, and I'll admit that the warnings gave me a moment of hesitation, but I was sucked in by the language of the fic. It's written in a 19th century style, and it really works. Gellert is so brazen and Albus so uncertain, and I even found the non-con hot! Yum.
Veritas (Sirius/James/Lily) I love threesomes! This one struck me as being very real for a first time, with Lily being curious but nervous, Sirius being all bravado (but really more of a voyeur than anything else), and James being completely confident in his relationship with Lily and in his friendship with Sirius. A lovely, sexy read.

And I love that EWE has really become an acronym.

Date: 2007-12-13 09:20 am (UTC)I moved to Korea four months ago and this title made me laugh SO hard. I just got home from work so I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but thanks so much for the rec!
