Okay, so I was getting all excited about the upcoming release of December Boys and I started looking for a theater to go see it in next weekend. Only to find that it's only opening in New York and LA in the US.

Arrgh!! WTF? Why all the TV publicity for a film the vast majority of us will have to wait for the DVD release to see? So not fair. :-(

Edit: taradiane has pointed out that the release has been extended, and though it's still limited it will definitely be opening in my city. So yay for me, though boo for it still being limited.

The bastards. You're right... what is the use of a media blitz for a failry limited release? Dan has fans! Spend some dough on prints! I mean, the CBS guy all but crawled into Dan's lap saying how great the movie is, so what are they worried about? A star that will pull, not like Brad Pitt maybe, but perhaps he'll pull more from the under 18 crowd to make up for it. And certainly we HP fans will go, just to see Dan playing a different orphan if for no other reason(s). Not to mention it's a season of serious shoot 'em ups upon us and almost nothing but. People will be looking for something besides Kevin Bacon trying on Charles Bronson and mind-numbing violence, violence, violence... I predict.

So I say again... the bastards. My town is not on the list for eventual release...pffft.
