emmagrant01: (DH reading)

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book at the moment. I decided to take my time with it, because there was no reason to rush. Originally I was going to be at Sectus and co-modding a round table with [livejournal.com profile] dragon_charmer about the future of Harry/Draco, and so my plan was to read like a fiend to be ready for that. I think that round table has happened by now, and I hope to find a post about what was said in the next couple of days.

But anyway, I woke up this morning and stared at the ceiling for a little while, thinking that this is the last morning I'll wake up not knowing how Harry Potter ends. That's sort of bittersweet, because I always had this crazy fear that something would happen to me and I would never find out how it ended, while at the same time not wanting it to be over. But this is it. Today is the day I will finally know everything. :-P

BTW, I'm writing up my thoughts chapter by chapter as I read here.

I had the same thought yesterday. And then, as I was reading the book, there came a point where it was clear that in the very next paragraph, I was going to learn the "secret," the hinge of the whole series, and I looked up and said to myself - "In a few second, you will know the answer." It was completely surreal. I almost didn't want to know.

It was at that point that I started to worry for my fandom, because now that everything is known, the urge to fill in gaps is less urgent. But I needn't have worried, I'm already writing!

I have seven chapters to go, and I'm glad to know there will still be stuff to write about!

You were missed, sweetheart, but it went well thanks to the notes you came up with for the original proposal. I think people had a great time and loved monochromal's H/D post, which I read at the end.

I skimmed to find the relevant bits, so am only just reading properly now.

*hugs*

I'm so glad it went well! I hope someone who went will write up a summary of what was discussed, because that would be awesome. :-)

Aw, I'm sorry you didn't get to have a proper read before finding out what happened. But I think I would have been in the same situation, actually.

I'm at Chapter 26. I'm actually looking forward to finishing so I can read it again and look at all the spoilers posts that I've been avoiding. I'm anxious to see what other people are thinking.

It's really nice not to have to worry about spoilers any more!

I'm about 200 pages from the end, and I keep reading a few pages and putting it down, and then reading a few more pages. It's like I want to draw it out as long as I can.

I drew it out a little longer than I had expected to, also because I didn't want it to end. But no matter how slowly you go, it does end eventually. And the closer I got to the end, the more anxious I was getting about participating in all the discussion I knew was going on online...

God, me too. I read much slower today (started out about page 650), and had to isolate myself for most of the end so I could read slow and digest it well. ~sigh~

I was reading slowly and doing some re-reading here at the end, too.
