So does this mean the whole Strikethrough mess is close to being over? I won't be happy until I see [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies back. There's no reason they shouldn't reinstate it. And they've lost my interest in a permanent account. There's no way I'll ever make that kind of committment to Six Apart, not after this. I turned off automatic payments like everyone else, and I have a wait-and-see attitude about renewing. (It's a long ways off, so they have some time to convince me to continue to be a paid customer.) I may never buy a v-gift again, though.

In the meantime, go Fandom! We may wank hard, but we sure band together when we need to.

I'm being guardedly optimistic about the response, but the cynical part of me doesn't see Pixies coming back. Of course the optimistic side is trying to hush that...
I second your feelings on the loss of interest in a permanent account though. I just renewed my year's worth a few days ago and was contemplating getting a permanent account next time, but I can't see doing that now.

Despite all that, I feel very proud of my fandom and otherwise LJ friends, everyone's working together so hard to be heard, and over all I think the reaction on our part has been calm, clear and mature. We may bicker amongst ourselves, but when it really counts it seems we can set those squabbles aside!

Yeah, I just renewed my paid account about a week ago. But seriously, no permanent account for me. I just can't trust them now.

Did you see the apology and restoring Ljs??

I'm not sure does that includes NC-17 Ljs...

Jeeez, I didn't see you already posted a link! I don't know why, but every time I click on that direct link to post from Mr.Berkowitz my comp freezes, so I couldn't see you posted it.

Hehehehehe

It's been a wild ride and one can only hope its about to end. I definitely lost my interest in the permanent account. No place is perfect and lj certainly seems to have it's own problems, too.

About fandom, it's really impressive that for once there has been some real unity instead of the constant wank. Yay!

I'm so glad i'm a part of this, and I wish I could hug everyone whi is in all this...*hugs everyone*

I'm not sure they're going to understand just how badly they messed up until they realise how many paying customers they've lost. These next few weeks? No big deal; they'll have a few mad people. But once a lot of our accounts run out and we don't pont up the cash, once they see just how few permanent accounts are going to see, that's when they'll start backpedaling on everything with a decent apology (i.e., not some pansy-arsed pr statement that still shifts the blame to us, no matter what they say it says).

I think his response is bullshit. His comments to us (with crossouts and grammar mistakes, way to look professional, dude) are in such variance with his comments to the media, I think this is stonewalling. This is nothing more than shutting us up so that they can prepare some spin.

Frankly, the day that Six Apart bought LJ and started whoring LJ to advertisers is the day that the death knell for slash rang out.

You mean "slash on LJ," right? Because slash has been around a lot longer than LJ, and it'll still be here when everyone has moved on to the next way of communicating.

From what I can tell, everyone's saying the same basic thing: no one wants a permanent account anymore. No one even knows if they want to renew their paid accounts. Woooo-ee. I bet Barak is going to be in some deep shit when Brad gets back.

They'd fucking BETTER give us back [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies. If they think fandom is pissed now, wait and see what happens if they reinstate a bunch of journals/comms but not that one.

We may wank hard, but we sure band together when we need to.

True that, man, and I think it should be iconed. *g*

I have a feeling to pacify us (and to further cover their asses because let's face it - this is incredibly stupid and bad timing on LJ/6A's part), they will offer a bunch of extras (200 icons, etc.) once they start the permanent account drive...

As if that will entice all the unhappy LJers to shell out such a large sum of money at one time.

We sure did!!

A lot of people ran about locking down their lj's and such. Not me. If they suspended me for what I have in there, well, so be it. But like you, I want my damned PP!!

Hear, hear!

I hear all the talk about previous fandom epics like Laptop Gate and shit and I think... man, i bet that was at least an exciting time. or at least interesting. now, i'm a part of ... well.. SOMEthing that, i gather, was far less decisive than possible Cancer scams and plagiarism declarations.

But... i'd rather not be a part of something like that, again, thank you very much.

I'm a bit disappointed right now, after reading [livejournal.com profile] vichan's LJ.

It says that [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counter wasn't created as rebellion against LJ and support for fandom. Maybe it's wasn't meant for that, but I saw it that way. :(
It shows the power of fandom, how many of us are there, and I think most of the people went to join just because of the Strikethrough, to show support.

Wow, I guess the saying is right. United we can do it all.

I'm probably one of the few who has a different opinion about the whole thing. I believe LJ really fucked up..but people on LJ also blew this way out of proportion as well. I wouldn't have left anyway b/c I didn't join LJ for fandom purposes -- I can understand if people did and have decided to either leave or not get paid accounts, but for me? I don't plan on leaving and I don't plan on stopping my automatic payments for my paid account.

I've seen few comments here and there about people with the same opinion as me -- LJ isn't all about fandoms, but that's what it turned into b/c two (HP & Supernatural fandoms) of the biggest fandoms (if not more) were targeted b/c they have/had communities pertaining to the interests they were targeting.

Not saying LJ was right to just blindly suspend LJs -- very wrong in fact, but if they've caught and deleted at least a handful of LJs that were REALLY supporting pedophilia, then I'm not going to completely protest it.

Again, not the popular opinion, but there you have it.
