Okay, I almost hate to admit this, but I am starting to like Sanjaya. The kids has balls, and he sure knows how to capitalize on his assets. And you know, his singing tonight wasn't half bad! It's almost like he's just at this point where he's said "Fuck it" and is going to ride this as long as he can. And I have to respect that, seriously!

I actually liked him this week. Based off this week, I'd vote off Chris Sligh.

I know. I'm sad about that, because he was one of my favorite guys going in. :-(

me too Chris was funny and sweet. I have been sad to see him go down hill. But at least Chris didn't forget his words and Sanjaya did. But really, I'm sure most people wouldn't notice, the hair was a big distraction. I thing Chris, Sanjaya, and Haley will be the bottom three.

I almost never watch the show, so have very little basis for comparison. However, I have to say that it was really weird to see Chris Richardson singing "Don't Speak." I think that I loved that song so much when I was in high school that seeing him sing it was like...what? I mean, yeah.

I think his strategy is to distract the audience from his mediorcre vocals and damn if it doesn't work for him!

Hee! I think that's exactly what's happening!

I was reminded strongly of a cockatiel. (But I do love him and his geekiness and his stupid big smile. XD)

The hair.

OMG the hair. I couldn't watch his hair was so distracting. I mean really what were they thinking when they did that?

I'm watching it right now (DVR'd it). He forgot the words AND he was off-key for a minute mid-song!!! He has personality, sure, but I really hope he doesn't make it any further. UGH.

The female singers so far have kicked some serious booty so far though!

Noooooooo!! dude... Sanjaya just needs to go, and that is all there is too it... he sucks! He has no sense of phrasing whatsoever and that just irks me.

and you know he has to know about the Howard Stern "vote for Sanjaya cuz he's the worst" thing. I dont know how he can stay on the show with any dignity when he knows that people who actually have talent are being sent home because he is getting more votes because of a prank.

But ya know, every week I watch, I think Jordin's chances are getting better and better.. from the beginning I have liked her, but have thought all along that she had no chance of winning versus the powerhouses of Melinda and Lakisha... but she is really coming into her own and she is pretty much my favorite at this point.

Oh.. and Haley... I found her version of "True Colors" to be torturous.... even worse then when the other dude covered "Time After Time" -- I think we have learned that covering Cyndi Lauper is bad... stay away from Cyndi Lauper songs. (*squee* am so excited I am going to being Cyndi is concert again in June... that's twice this year)

Oh, I don't think he can hold a candle to any of the other folks, and yes, I live on the planet and so am totally aware that VFTW and Stern have been pushing him just to fuck with the format of the show. ;-)

What I'm finding interesting about him is that he's seemed to make a decision to give the people who are voting for him what they want -- entertainment. He knows he's not as good as the others are, but he's taking what he has (basically a pretty face and a fun personality) and doing his best with it. And it's getting to the point that rather than finding it painful to watch, I'm finding it funny and pretty damn entertaining. If he were up there cringing at himself every night, it would be different, but he's having fun. I'm not going to vote for him, but I wasn't exactly disappointed that he didn't get voted off the other night.

The people who are getting voted off before him now wouldn't have won either, so I'm honestly not that concerned about him. At this point it seems to be a contest between Melinda, LaKisha, and Jordin (and maybe Blake). And if by some slim chance Sanjaya beat out all of them and won, what that would tell me is that the voters don't take the show seriously anymore and really just see it as entertainment. And that would, in itself, be entertaining.

oh my goodness, I just saw this. You don't actually believe the voting is anything other than an opinion poll? Do you? It's great comedy, but once Sanjaya goes, at least the trolls on the website will have new fodder.

Sanjaya spam is getting extremely old.

Sorry for the response to such an old post. I need to visit over here more fequently. :)

I'm not sure what you mean. What else would a show where you phone in your votes be other than an opinion poll? People vote for whoever they want, for whatever reason they want, as many times as they want. Whoever gets the least votes goes. Repeat ad nauseum. What else is it but a freaky popularity contest? I guess I thought that was the whole point. Hence sites like VFTW trying to screw up the system, to point out the obvious.

Of course, you could make an argument that all of show business works that way. The artists with the best gimmicks and marketing people are often the most successful ones, rather than the ones who are the most talented. It's just the way it seems to work. Or at least, that's how I justify the career of Britney Spears...

There is justification for Brit? lol

Sorry, I spend way to much time on the AI boards. There are those that truly believe that their votes are the only thing keeping Mr. Malakar on the show.

I figure he's there til the producers get sick of him. Howard, et al, have no affect. Other than adding to shear numbers of votes that Seacrest can crow about on the results show. I believe the whole thing is 1000% fixed, with a predetermined winner and completely spun for drama. Sure there is talent there, and it's a great opportunity for exposure, but the ending is scripted. Some of the stuff in between may be spontaneous, but the next winner has already been picked by TPTB. :)

Doesn't mean I don't watch, because I do. And spend far too much time discussing it afterwards. *looks really embarrassed.* I'm really not trying to argue... I have far too much respect for for your writing. :)
