I am finding myself disagreeing with almost everything the judges say tonight. What the hell?

I LOVED the performances by Blake, LaKisha, Gina, and (Force help me) Sanjaya, and I thought Chris R. was only so-so. :-P

ETA: Melinda made me cry. *sniffs* I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

OMG. this is the first time I've ever watched this show. I've held off for this long, and then I broke (My grandma persuaded me).

Soooooooooo... Do we like Jordin? I liked Jordin.

OK, so tonight was the first time I've watched this season ...
What's up with Paula ... she's really out of it.

Was she? She seems normal to me, heh. ;-)

Well, out of it for normal people is unusually coherent for Paula.

I'm west coast, so American Idol just ended for me, actually. WOW, Jordin was ON tonight! I, uh, might have actually picked up my phone and voted for the first time ever.

Blake and Jordin were my favorites tonight. I also thought Gina did really good. Of course Lakisha and Melinda are always wonderful. And even though I can't stand Sanjaya, I have to give him credit for rockin' it tonight.

Sanjaya totally surprised me tonight. :-P

I am in love with Blake.

I need an icon of him doing that little hip dance he did tonight and I want it to say, "Who's your daddy?"

Ah, Blake. :-D

I really like Blake a lot. He and Chris S. are my favorite guys!

Chris Sligh has got one of the better vocals out of everyone, too. I hope he gets really far in the competition. But Sanjaya needs to GO. No, really. The more he's there, the more he keeps taking the spot of someone else that deserves to be there more than him. He's got the worse voice. I bet the judges are regretting ever letting him through.

I felt sorry for Sanjaya for a while, thinking that he had to know that he sucked compared to everyone else. Now I think he's just enjoying the ride for as long as it lasts. I think he'll go eventually, but probably not this week. He's just too entertaining to have around. Sadly. :-P

From: [identity profile] frances-veritas.livejournal.com
Oh yea. He definitely won't go this week, sadly. This is really my first season watching the show. And it just bugs me that Sanjaya keeps getting lucky because America is voting for him and he won't take advantage of it and keeps giving not so good performances. Except tonight. He was okay tonight. He surprised me, too. :-D I didn't even know his voice can get that low. Hee.

Hee! This is the first time I've ever watched it, and I'm completely hooked. As if most of my flist, apparently.

Out of curiosity, why do you think it's sexist?

My faves were Jordin, Blake, Gina and Melinda. LaKisha was good but mechanical and Sanjaya... god help us all. Chris R. looks like a mongoose and is SO nasal when he sings.

Yes to your top four. I voted for all of those. ;-)

Blake was so great! My problem with Chris is that his voice sounds SO much like Justin Timberlake's, which is not a good thing since Justin has sort of a reedy, goat-esque voice, but only about 1% of Justin's charisma. And he doesn't dance. Pshaw.

Date: 2007-03-21 03:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] frances-veritas.livejournal.com
Ahaha. I bet Justin is cringing every time they compare Chris R. to him. :-D

Justin's on tour and I'm pretty sure he doesn't watch AI, just because it's the kind of thing that would drive him crazy. He likes to talk about how hard he worked to get where he is, so someone basically winning a record contract? Not his idea of a good thing.

...but he probably watches in secret. And makes fun of the people he thinks are ugly. He probably likes Blake the best and is mad jealous of Blake's superior beatboxing :P

I actually heard that Justin hates AI but can't help watching.

Ahaha. If Justin can beatbox I might love him a little. :-D

There's a much better example from Live at Madison Square Garden, but I couldn't find it on youtube. Wait for the end...and you get Justin beatboxing. Justin LOVES beatboxing. He's not especially good at it though :P

Aw, dead-BeeGee tribute, with intro by the late Ed Bradley. How cool!

NSync did about 5 different Bee Gees medleys, for some reason. I think because Chris wanted solos. (Chris is the tiny one with the very high voice). This is actually my least favorite. Um, and Backstreet did this ridiculously wonderful Beach Boys tribute...

Which made me go, "Oh wow, they can actually sing!"

Isn't it good! Oh, AJ. I'm glad he's sober now. And always should wear a hat. Another Bee Gees medley, because I do love the Bee Gees...

Oh, that is good!

I'm getting goosebumps. I forgot how much I love me my boy bands.

And I'm glad A.J.'s sober, too. *loves on him* And, yes, hats on A.J. is always a good thing. :-D

Omg, Nysnc. Ahaha. *tries not to cringe* :-P I was a Backstreet Boys fan myself. But I'm glad Justin is doing his solo thing now. To me he's always been Nysnc. It was like who are the other members of that group again? :-P He's a really good performer.

And, beatboxing is not that bad.

And, uh, this performance reminded me of a BSB one.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. :-D

Backstreets good too, I like them all! NSync has been doing Bee Gees medleys forever... they started doing them in Germany, I think, back when BSB and NSync and, um, god, everyone was in Europe because the US was all about the grunge.

Now U.S. is all about, er, not really good, shrieky punk music. I think I miss the boy bands.

I'm posting all this on my journal now. I've gotten all fangirly about them all over again. :-P I forgot how much I used to love them all.

Awww! *draws heart* I know, though--I really wish I could enjoy Panic! At the Disco's music because they're so cute and teeny and pocket-sized. They're like a boyband, with pesky instruments and no dancing. So uh, not like a boy band at all. Well, they wear makeup and ridiculous costumes...

Yeah, I agree. He sounds like Justin, but not as good. I guess I don't get what the judges see in him, you know?

From: [identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com
He might be a lot more charismatic in person. Like, there are definitely people I've seen on TV and thought, "EH" but then seen them live and been blown away. That, and they don't want to end up with another unmarketable lump. Chris could be easily molded, that's for sure.

Ahhh.. I'll only be able to watch it in *checks watch* 6 hours! *wails*

Me love Jordin, Lakisha, Melinda, Blake and Chris S.! Sanjaya = good. You kidding me?

My favorites continue to be Melinda and Jordin. It wasn't any different tonight. I think Blake is a good performer; and he's fun to watch and original. I don't think he's the greatest singer though. I'd like him to stay awhile but not win. I think what Randy was alluding to with LaKisha was that he thought she was channelling Shirley Bassey a bit too much instead of being herself. Gina's performance just doesn't do much for me. She's this season's "rocker chick;" but I get this feeling of someone who's dressing up as a "rocker chick" for Halloween. Chris R. seems like a "boy band" singer to me. Sanjaya's horrible but he's growing on me because he's so bizarre. He's like a spoof of a 70's teen heartthrob. Tonight everything about his performance was just absolutely hilarious. That crying little girl in the audience was almost to good to be true; but I don't think you can effectively plant something like that. (Maybe I'm being naive about that. I don't know.) Another one I kinda like is Sligh; but not necessarily for his singing performance.

I totally agree. I actually LIKED Sanjaya last night, although it helps that I love that song. Actually, they picked some great songs. Melinda was amazing as always and Blake was incredible.
