Ooooh, Happy Pi Day. (I'm not writing it out, I only learned about to 5 decimal places!)

After my initial moment of WTF? What HTML screwed up this time? and I realised the point I was kinda impressed it actually has a day dedicated to it.

LOL, no -- all I know is 3.14159. If that's not a good enough estimate, I don't bother to estimate and leave it as π. ;-)

I only know it to about 5 places too. If I need more, I can look it up. ;-)

*geekitude* So in junior high my best friend and I realized her address was 314 and mine was 15926. So to this day I can recite it out to 3.1415926. :D

Also last week when my math teacher was trying to get us to realize what 3/14 was I was the only one who got it:

Prof: So in a week is a special day...
Class: *clueless*
Prof: C'mon, what day will it be?
Class: ...Wednesday?
Prof: No no, date.
Class: The fourteenth...?
Me: Oh! Pi Day!
Girl that sits in front of me: Why did you know that?!
Me: 3/14? 3.14?
Rest of the class: Ohhhhhh.

Hee!

We'll be celebrating about 33.5 seconds before 2pm.
With, in fact, pie.

God, my company is so nerdy!

I can't decide whether to be releived or disapointed that math teachers aren't secretly calculators.

I've never remembered the numbers past 3.14, I can balance my check book and figure increases and decreases in knitting. That is enough math in my life.

I am taking a Lace Shawl Knitting Workshop in which we are all making our own version of the Pi Shawl. I will have to forward the link to the ladies in the class.

My Pi Day celebration will be working another round on the shawl. I'm currently at the final section with 576 stitches on the needle. It takes me 45 minutes to work one round of plain knitting. If it's a lace pattern round I can't do it all in one sitting, so I have no idea ow long it takes.

I don't remember hearing about this when I was in high school, but when I share it with students they just sort of stare blankly at me, heh.
