Surrender the Grey: Chapter 16 and Epilogue

And that's it! Three years in the making, and it's done. I can't believe it! :-P

The eBook still needs a little more work, but I'll post it tomorrow. Whee!

I had read LMH almost a year ago, but never got around to STG, so I've been reading it as you've posted (after I went and re-read LMH of course). And I have to say, the two stories combined, but especially this one, are so incredibly well-written. You had me on the edge of my seat several times waiting to see what happened next. And I love that Harry and Draco met and fell in love twice. I don't think I have much more to say other than this was a wonderful piece of writing and I very much enjoyed reading it. Thank you!

Wow, thanks so much! I haven't read LMH since last spring when I was about to start revising the final edition. Now that they're both all done, I'd like to go back and re-read them for fun (instead of for revision purposes). I think I might give myself a little space first, though. ;-)

Thank you for writing! LMH was the second hp fic I read and also the reason I went and read the books, so it was totally awesome to have such a kick ass sequel. I was on the edge of my seat until the end, never sure what other surprises you had up your sleeve :) ..I think with really good writers we sometimes take it for granted that they know how we feel, and forget to actually state our appreciation for their original thought and genious of executing the scenes and portraying the characters just right. So thank you for an excellent fic. I always know I can trust you with my favorite characters :)

Thank you so much! Wow, I didn't know you read fanfic before you read the books! That must have made your take on the books pretty interesting. ;-)

And yes, thanks for that. (I'm a teacher, so I'm used to it, heh.) I really do appreciate it!

LOL, me too. ;-) And thanks!

Oh, I don't know if Heidi posted anything about it in your local meet-up comm, but I'm going to be there next weekend. We were thinking of having dinner on Saturday evening. Are you free, by any chance (since I missed you last time)?

Are you speaking of the "Ruby's" meetup? *deep sigh* It's in Newport Beach, and if I happened to be solo that day, I'd go. However, Nibs, Hubby, and I (and perhaps a couple of HP folks) are going to the Magritte exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art that day, tickets and all. Even that's about 50 miles away from Newport.

That being said...

Do you have a rental car? Are you interested in coming up to West Hollywood? Bring along some friends? Wanna spend the early afternoon with us? Great show, I've heard.

Plus there's Sunday and I'm free. *g*

Should you be remotely interested, let me know and I'll give you my email.

Yep, that's the one. I'm there for a conference, and the only free time I have is after 5:00 on Saturday, and then I leave first thing Sunday morning. It looks like I'll miss you again! :-(

Well, damn, damn, damn! Why do they send you to Orange County, of all places?! *ducks brickbats*

Next time, send advance warning and we'll meet up, yes? Perhaps Hollywood or Malibu. ;-)

That location was chosen for me, I think. My conference is in Irvine, so it's convenient to where I'm at. ;-)

Yay, congratulations.

And I am crying again because I am such a sappy thing and have just finished reading the last chapter and epilogue. The whole Draco-Hermione at the end just does me in. ♥

I remember crying really hard when I wrote it. I wasn't sure it would impact other people the same way, but I sort of hoped it would. :-)

Thanks!

I'd read your one-shots, so I knew you were good. I've been enjoying your Buffy reviews, and sort of skulking about waiting for moments to lure you toward some of the awesome Buffy fic that's out there if you know where to look. When you started posting this, I had a real, "Duh, why haven't I read this?" moment.

What fun! I love the unabashed genre writing -- romantic drama with a sort of Queer as Folkish flavour, with spies. Hermione turns me on. I think the conversation between her and Harry, at the end of LMH, is my favourite part. I have a friendship kink.

I like your Draco a ton, despite the fact that his character archetype often exasperates me. Kudos. He works for me because you showed what a needy, emotional creature he is, but also his resourcefulness.

Harry's hot. I usually find Harry hot. But he complements Draco, steadies him. You make it easy to see why they fall for each other, not just why I, the reader, should fall for them.

Thanks for a good read.

This was so much fun to reread! I'd only read StG once (as opposed to having read LMH several times), and I was really surprised by how much I had forgotten - it was almost like reading it for the first time... again!

The amnesia bit was genius - what a treat to get to see H&D have UST and fall in love twice in one universe!

I had mostly forgotten the part that Lucius played in it all - well, except for the limo scene with Polyjuiced!Draco. *That* will forever be burned in my memory. *g* Anyway, it was interesting to see his part unfold. There aren't many H/D fics that make him out as anything but pure villain.

Such a great fic! ♥
