It's Election Day, and I voted.

I love Election Day, really. It's exciting to go and stand in line and be part of the whole event, and then to curl up on the couch and watch the results come in that night. Of course, it's more fun if things turn out your way. I have hope today. :-)

And this is the first time that my vote will be counted in the city that always seems to be the deciding factor for Ohio. *dances*
Can't wait for tonight.

Date: 2006-11-07 04:09 pm (UTC)And the sad thing is, I can't even do the curling up on the couch bit. I don't have TV (which explains why I'm on here so much) because my mother thinks its some kind of goverment brainwashing scheme. Not really, but I'm pretty sure that's what's going on her head.

Date: 2006-11-07 09:09 pm (UTC)You wouldn't believe how hard it was to figure out the CA supreme court justices' views. I finally tracked down that BOTH of them will be good; one's a lesbian, and both have previously voted for gay marriage & etc. That's the next big vote coming up here- sometime next year, probably.

Date: 2006-11-07 10:02 pm (UTC)PROP. 107 -- MARRIAGE
The issue: The Protect Marriage Initiative would amend the state Constitution to ban same-sex unions.
The impact: The measure would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman and bar state and local governments from giving legal status to unmarried couples.
That'd be a no. I pray this one doesn't get through. That's a low blow. Let me tell you. That sort of thing doesn't need to even be DISCUSSED. I don't see why people are wanting to politically bash homosexuals - but it's a controversial prop here in AZ. And one of the main reasons I'm going to vote today.

Date: 2006-11-07 11:27 pm (UTC)I do remember one year when I was in high school I was helping one of the local candidates. I spent 4 hours after school standing in the freezing rain, holding a sign in front of one of the voting locations. He lost and I got a cold. *G*
