LOL! And so much art is about sex and sensuality, you know? That's the stuff people had painted for their bedrooms, and it's fun to see that what they were interested in wasn't so different than what we're interested in. :-)

There's a musuem in Lima, Peru with an entire floor devoted to erotic art. It's fascinating!

I loved the line about slash-colored glasses. I know EXACTLY what you mean. Everything is now tinged with boylove. I was watching this History Channel show about Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton and all I could think of was plotbunnies and angry!sex.

It's a good thing, I think. :D

I think the moment I realized slash had changed the way I looked at the world was when I saw an old Star Trek episode on TV one night, a couple of years ago. I just stared at the screen and thought, "Oh, Kirk and Spock are SO doing it!" It was a revelation. ;-)

Oh, I was too young when I was last in Rome (15, about a decade ago). I need to get back and have a good and proper giggle.

It's funny, because I've been to Rome several times, and this was the first time that I really saw it with a slashy perspective! About a week in, I decided to start collecting notes on these things, and even MDH got in on the act. He started saying, "Oh, that has got to go in the guide!" when we saw certain statues and paintings.

And I'm thrilled that you passed it on to others! How fun!

such as the panel where Adam and Eve are being tempted by the serpent. Note that she's kneeling right before his naked crotch, as if the moment she takes a bite of that apple she's going to want to take a bite of something else.

... but why would a slasher be interested in boring canon, het relationship such as Adam/Eve, when there're the unlimited slashy possibilities of, um, Adam/God or Adam/Snake to explore? :D Slasher isn't synonymous to pervert, and therefore I think this would be better named "The Pervert's Guide to Rome" ;)

Anyway, really funny and useful, will certainly be put to use if I go to Rome again!

I actually took out quite a bit of stuff that was more just bizarre than slashy. But I have to disagree with you -- slashers aren't anti-het in general. Most of us appreciate quite a bit more than just m/m stuff. On top of that, I was looking for themes that slashers are often fans of: subversion, noncon, and recreating stories in your own way. That's what makes it slashy, IMO.
