Pimpage and an LJ garage sale

1. I've been trying to keep up with my recs journal lately,
emma_recs. It's mostly a reading journal, a place where I can post about the fics that I've read and really loved. It's well-organized with tags, so I like to think it's easy to find good stuff there. There are a ton of fics I need to add, too.
2. I've been amazed by how well
writing_sex runs. I'm technically the mod, but I've only had to step in twice in over a year of its existence. People post questions there quite often, and the members are quick to respond and highly knowledgable. It's even multi-fandom! If you don't know about it, go and check it out. It's a great resource.
3. Though it hasn't seen much traffic lately, the Chix-Talkin-Fix yahoo group has in the past been a great place to talk about writing.
jedirita and I started it ages ago, and every now and then a discussion pops up. I'd like to see it be active again, because I've had some great conversations there. Incidentally, we also started an LJ comm to partner with it (
chix_talkin_fix), but it was hardly used at all. If there's any interest in that comm, please feel free to join and post.
4.
hd_discussion has been around for a while and is currently being maintained by me and
furiosity. We keep meaning to get some new discussions started.
5.
hp_infinities and its Yahoo group were a writing experiment that I had high hopes for, but it never really took off -- despite more than 100 people joining the group. I'm not sure if it's dead or not, but if anyone wants to participate, please check it out.
6. I'm the current maintainer of
almost_hd, a comm devoted to UST! No, not really -- it's actually more about H/D preslash.
7. après l'école probably doesn't need pimping, but I'll point to it anyway. It has an LJ feed too:
apres_lecole.
Comms up for grabs
1. I started
hp_quince last fall, and this spring I haven't been able to keep up with it. The idea was that challenges would be posted every week on Sunday, and participants would post fics they wrote in 15 minutes, sort of like
contrelamontre. Would anyone like to take it over? Please? I still want to participate, but I don't have time to maintain it, obviously. Taken by
wook77.
2. A long time ago, I started a comm called
novel_fanfic, thinking it would be a support community for people who were writing novel-length fics. It sort of fizzled out, and nothing has really happened there for a while. In retrospect, a mailing list is probably better for that sort of thing. I'm almost ready to admit that it's dead -- unless anyone wants to take it. Please comment if you want it! Taken by
piscaria.
3.
hp_x_sw was started, obviously, to showcase HP and SW crossover fics. It currently contains one unfinshed cracky WIP! (*shifty glance at
littlesnitch*) If anyone would like to take the comm and make something out of it, let me know.
4.
siri_tachi_fic: unfortunately, I think this one is as dead as.. well. I still have an unfinished WIP there, too. I don't know if there's any interest in that little corner of the SW fandom any more.
5.
snb_fandom: Stitch n' Bitch fandom! I haven't done much knitting lately, but I'm sure I will when the weather gets cooler. I'm content to just let this one lie fallow, but if someone wants to take it over and do something with it, great!

Man, I wish these weren't so dead. I love both. Unfortunately, I'm not a writer, and only the very vaguest sort of artist, so I never had much to contribute besides props to those who are.
I'd love to see the Siri fic finished, though. ;)
And the Anakin/Draco was fun, if a bit... silly. *g*

Date: 2006-06-21 01:51 am (UTC)I am going to re-read the OoTP, and I'm looking for communties with theories from it. You know, is Remus evil?, or what really happened in Snape's Worst memory. Then I noticed that you seem to know a bunch of communities, so I'm just asking.
