1. I woke up really early this morning (jet lag) and spent some time updating my web site. I now have 43 HP fics listed there! I had no idea I'd written that much fic.

2. My not-so-trusty laptop has been making me crazy for months, and I've decided to break down and buy a new one. Despite the cost, I'm really looking forward to getting it. This one is many years old, anyway, and I've been having a lot of trouble running Dreamweaver on it, as well as multimedia software. *pets it* Time to put this one out to pasture, I think.

3. On an unrelated WTF-ish note, I've seen video clips on both CNN and NBC this morning (though I can't seem to find a link) of a model wearing the latest fashion trend: a jewel-encrusted live cockroach on a leash. Apparently you let it crawl around on you while you look aloof and hold its little silver leash. Because really, nothing says beautiful like cockroaches crawling all over you, hmm?

ETA: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] twilight_nyx for the link to the cockroach video and to [livejournal.com profile] tavi_b for this link to the story. It may have been featured on America's Top Model, but this is actually for real! *shudders*

I don't care how many jewels they're encrusted with-- Cockroaches. Are. Disgusting. Yet more proof that the fashionistas of the world are out of their coke-addled brains.

Wasn't that also popular in the 50's and then again in the 70's? My mom remembers that trend...it was beetles mostly, including cockroaches. I can't believe they would actually revive that trend. *shudders*

2. It's a lot of money, but oh, the shiny! The new ones with the dual processors are so fast! *waits impatiently for new laptop to arrive*

3. Yep. I wish I could find a link, because this really needs to be seen to be believed.

I don't know about that model, but there isn't enough money in the world to pay me for wearing *that*. So imagine paying for it.

Erm... eww? I can't stand coackroaches. *shivers* They might not hurt a fly, but still. How weird can you get? What next? Sewer rats as pets? *shudder* That is weird.

The jeweled-cockroach thing was probably from last night's episode of "America's Next Top Model." The girls were taught how to runway walk and then as a challenge were supposed to pull it off with a cockroach leashed to their clothes.

The show is totally better than it sounds.

Yes, but that wasn't just a stunt -- there really is a designer in Salt Lake City who is selling them! (See links above)

The cockroach thing was probably from last nights America's Next Top Model. The models had to walk the runway with cockroaches attached to them. I think it was more of an attempt to freak out the contestants than a serious fashion statement.

No, no, this was in a store. They had the roaches in a dish-like thing and one was munching on what looked like an apple. The model standing there covered in said jewel-encrusted roaches didn't look too happy. It was disgusting.

Jewel-encrusted cockroaches?!!! (Sounds worse than trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear)...most unnatural and shudder inducing. Blech!

Sometimes I think the world's gone mad...other times, I'm sure of it.

Holy crap you've written a lot of fics!

Me no likey bugs. Having bugs crawl on me on purpose (...especially for fashion) makes no sense to me.

I just saw the video... and... well, eww it's really all that comes to mind. I mean I am not that squeamish or anything, but coackroaches... that's just weird. I really admire those women's courage. I couldn't stay still with one of those bugs crawling around in my shirt. *shudders* Whatever. Weird trends.

That video is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen! I had no idea cockroaches were that big -- I think they were fed nuclear waste.

that... was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. That was... I can't even begin to describe the level of disturbing that was. I mean, granted, I have a phpbia of roached, but... ew. I'm going to go take a bath now and scrub until I bleed.

I don't know why, but the whole thing just cracked me up. I mean, for serious? This is what we're doing now? Decorating roaches with crystals and letting them roam our chests like the wild prarie?

Of course, I'm not particularly squicked by bugs, so long as they're clean and not going to bite me.

My cats would attack my chest. They could give two shits about the shiny, there's movement and if they chase my pony tail, they're going to try to eat my new friend.

I think if you found someone walking around with a bug leashed to them before this, you'd think they were crazy. But now that it costs $40 and there's Austrian crystals involved, it's good.

Oh, the humanity.

LOL, now I'm imagining this designer walking past a crazy homeless guy one day who is talking to his pet cockroach, perched on his shoulder like some sort of freaky parrot, and he thinks, "Hang on... I think there's some money to be made here!"
