The final nominations for the hposcars have been announced here. They even have a video! Voting is open through this Thursday, and winners will be announced next Sunday.
It's a good idea, and I like that it incorporates the slash, the het, and the gen folks... but ugh. If it's done next year, it needs some work.
One of the voting posts isn't screened like all the rest, which, all-in-all... not a big deal. But it's the principle of the thing. Also, a number of vote postings have mentioned the category's not being screened in their response. Still, nothing's being done. It suggests a lack of attention on the part of the creators/moderators.
Furthermore, there are quite a few links that go to protected entries.
A good number of the artwork entries seem to have used up their bandwidth, making them entirely unviewable.
And to top it off... with less than a week between the revelation of the nominees and the closing of voting, most people only really have time to vote for what they themselves have already read. There are several stories listed (among the various categories) that were new to me and I'd love to be able to read them and consider them in my voting, but I'm a busy woman and there's no way I can get to them all in a week.
Without being able to see/access and/or have time to review all the nominees... this is just an aggrandized popularity contest. :( Very disappointing.
...Still, I can use it as a rec list for later... that and the nomination list (if that's still around).
