Happy New Year!

There's nothing like spending a week with your family to make you realize why you moved far, far away in the first place. I really can't wait to go home!
Happy New Year!
This year, my fandom resolution is to read more fic. I didn't read much other than one-shots last year, and I really want to make reading a priority again. It was why I came here in the first place, after all. I know there was a lot of great fic written in the last year, and I missed it!
So to get me started, if you wrote a fic last year that you think I would like, would you be so kind as to comment here with a link? If you aren't a writer, but would like to rec something, that would be fantastic too. I'll read just about anything, het and slash. I still need to catch up on Smutmas, but after that, I really want to read that stuff I missed while I was writing last year.
Thanks in advance! *off in search of greens and black-eyed peas*
ETA: Please don't be embarrassed to self-pimp! I know I missed a lot of fic this year, so I want to know what you've written that I ought to read. :-)

Date: 2006-01-01 04:15 pm (UTC)I have to say, one of the most consistently funny fics I've read in a long time is "Easy to Love" by
Also, not even a fic, but this lj-entry (http://www.livejournal.com/users/helenish/113265.html) by Helenish is hysterical.
And, omfg, I just (like, ten minutes ago, so literally just) found a fic that I'd been trying to find for MONTHS: Labour, part one (http://www.livejournal.com/users/schuyler/1062483.html), and part two (http://www.livejournal.com/users/schuyler/1062836.html). Of course, I haven't read this since March, maybe, but it's Draco/Ron, where Ron has to work at Malfoy Manor over the summer (painting outbuildings, maybe?) and Draco likes to come look at him because sometimes he takes his shirt off. I remember liking it, anyway. Mainly I'm reccing it simply because now I can rec it without saying something like, "It's the one where Ron works outside and Draco stares at him a lot, you know the one. I don't have the link or know the name or know who it's by, but it's THAT one."
Err, also, I friended you a while back (where "a while" = about five days ago) but I think I didn't leave a comment because there didn't seem to be an appropriate post where I could leave a comment AND have something to say. Also, I've been visiting your journal for quite a while now, for the pr0n obviously, but also for the occasional Texas politics. So, hi and stuff. Yeah.
*is in the habit of leaving long rambling comments*

My favourite rec right now is most definitely The Shadow of His Wings (http://theguestroom.houseofhobbits.com/hp/sohw.html). Mirabella updates it fairly regularly at
In which Evil faces an insurrection, Good faces an unexpected betrayal,
and Harry means to find out which side Draco is on.

I've been a lurker on your LJ for the last couple of months, as I only recently discovered your fics. I really ought to friend you one of these days! :)
Anyway -- I have a post-HBP Harry/Draco novel that's complete at about 125,000 words, and I'm currently posting the sequel as a WIP.
Title: Finer Than Spring
Summary: ... Wherein Harry takes a prisoner, enemies are more valuable than friends, and seduction is the weapon that could win the war.
Link: Right here! (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lashajayne/490.html)
... No pressure. :) Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Happy New Year!!

Date: 2006-01-01 05:25 pm (UTC)Title: Rome
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC17
Summary: The war is over and Draco Malfoy's in hiding. Harry knows he has to find him, but he just doesn't know why. This is a tale of bitter loneliness, painful betrayal and forbidden desires; where old acquaintances reunite after years of exile and love blossoms under Italian sunsets. Post-Hogwarts, post-War.
Warnings: Smut (rimming and anal sex), angst, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fluff, lots and lots of slow-developing plot.
Prologue, Chapter One (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mackenzie1/1561.html#cutid1) and Chapter Two (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mackenzie1/2040.html#cutid1). Chapter Three will be posted by this weekend ().
I won't deny that I'd love to hear your opinions on the story so far, but I'll be completely unoffended and understanding if you decide to not take a look! *hugs* And Happy New Year!

Date: 2006-01-01 09:30 pm (UTC)This one is by Mac, called 'Drunken Disorderly'. Also Snarry, it's hilarious until the end, when it's touching and sweet. Angsty throughout, but not so much that you need a hanky to get through it.

There's also a story called 'Three Months', but I don't have a link for it. If I find the link, I'll send it. I've read it about twenty times now, and it wasn't that long ago that it was new.
I used Skyehawke links because I had the window open at the time. All these authors, including me, have LJ's with their work posted there as well.
Happy New Year. I have your website in my favorites, so I can re read your stories when the mood strikes - I love them all :)

Date: 2006-01-02 04:02 am (UTC)But having said that, and please don't feel any pressure to read any of these at all, and also please bear in mind the fact that I have no idea if you've read some of these already or not, so forgive my repetitiveness! - but this is my "standard" list of self-rec's, when people ask for them. It's long so that you have choice, not because I expect you to read any or all of them! ♥
Novel-length fics:
Walking the Line. DM/HP, NC-17. This is the only WiP I'm listing. It gets updated usually around every five days or so, with give and take. Sixth year is over and Draco Malfoy is on the run. The war is on and an unwanted assignment is forced upon him by the only people he trusts - and a one-time arch-enemy just may be out to kill him. Set immediately post-HBP. 16 chapters, 76,559 words and counting.
Allegiance and Sedition. HP/DM, NC-17. Alternating POV's. The war is in its fifth year, and Harry finds himself caught up in the confusion of friend versus enemy, spy versus traitor. Post-Hogwarts, HBP-compliant. 17 chapters, 104,378 words.
On the Wings of the Storm. DM/HP, NC-17. The war is upon Draco Malfoy and there are some hard decisions to be made. Begins at the end of seventh year; written pre-HBP. 30 chapters, 170,588 words.
Medium-length (for me!) fics:
Agnus Dei. HP/DM, R. Post-Hogwarts. Mystery abounds in the Auror Department, and two of the Aurors find themselves experiencing a friendship more intense than it should be. 21,130 words.
Old City Jasmine. HP/DM, NC-17. Post-Hogwarts, set in Damascus. Harry is woken suddenly one night when Death Eaters break into his flat and is whisked away to Damascus and the wonder of the ancient world. 12,406 words.
A House with a White Picket Fence. HP/DM, some HP/GW, some HP/SF, R. Harry, happily married and busy with his Auror career, thinks his life is perfect until he starts discovering what he's been missing all this time. Post-war, obviously post-Hogwarts. Essentially my attempt to pre-undo any Book 7 Harry/Ginny ending. :) 18,761 words.
A House with a Blue Door. HP/DM, NC-17. Sequel to the above. 16,339 words.
Something New. George/Lee, NC-17. A companion story set in the same universe, pre-A House/Picket Fence. 9,460 words.
The Summer After. HP/DM, HG/RW, GW/DT, R. A tale of hurt/comfort, and essentially my version of an epilogue for HBP. Written within hours of finishing the first read. 7,476 words.
High Summer Haze. HP/DM, RL/SS, CW/NT, NC-17. Sequel to that. Longer and more involved. 13,603 words.
Bittersweet. HP/DM, NC-17. Harry's team of Aurors burst into Malfoy Manor - and into a place where old wounds are re-opened and made afresh. Post-Hogwarts hurt/comfort. 9,256 words.
Shorter fics:
In the Room of Requirement. HP/DM, NC-17. Harry finally manages to get inside the Room of Requirement. Set during HBP and therefore contains spoilers. Angsty. 3,466 words.
Memory. DM/HP, NC-17. Companion fic to the last, but is set from Draco's POV. It begins before, goes through the above scene, and continues past it. Also angsty. 6,628 words.
Um, I think that'll do. Quite. :) As I said, please don't think that I'm expecting/hoping/whatevering you'll read all of these; I just wanted to offer a variety. ♥

One of my goals for the new year is to write more. :)
