Quizzage, Writing

On a completely different note: I may not have been posting a lot of fic lately, but I've been writing quite a lot. I submitted a fic to
hp_loveletters, and my (very late, so sorry, Robin!) submission for
hp_springsmut is almost finished. After that one's done, I can get back to writing other things at last! (Viki and Abby, I swear I'm still in it!) Between Smutmas, Jedi Santa, HP Infinities, and these two exchanges, I think I overcommitted myself this fall. :-P
Don't get me wrong -- I love writing for fic exchanges, because they push me to write pairings and scenarios I may not have attempted otherwise. Writing a fic for a particular person's tastes can be a challenging task, and it's a lot of fun to try to do it. I tend to like working with deadlines and pressure, though, which means I almost always procrastinate and often only start working on these fics a week or two before the deadline. That sort of intensity is usually part of my process; I mark out blocks of several hours at a time (when MDH is travelling and I've nothing better to do in the evenings) and bury myself in writing. But this last month, I had little time to spare, and I really paid the price for waiting. Still, I'm proud of the two fics I wrote, and I don't think they would have turned out as well if I hadn't written them quickly and intensely. That seems to work for me as a writer, painful as it can be.
All right, back to work. *sips coffee*
ETA: Oh, Splenda! How lovely to have you back in the break room! So much better than sugar or the pink stuff!
ETA 2:
lightstarangel and I have found the (unavailable in the US) purse-packet Splenda tablets for sale online here! :-D
