Frequently Asked Questions
Feb. 14th, 2004 08:48 pmI get asked many of the same questions over and over, so I thought I'd make a blanket post to direct people to. I hope this doesn't seem a really obnoxious thing to do! I'm not doing it out of any sort of snobbery or cockiness; it just seemed like something that might be useful. :-)
F. A. Q.
What's your email address? It's emmagrant01@gmail.com.
Is it all right if I friend you? Yes, absolutely! No need to ask. You can friend anyone you like, actually. It's a free internet, after all.
Will you friend me back? Meep! LJ has a limit for friending, unfortunately, and it's literally impossible for me to friend back everyone who friends me. However, I do keep an eye on who comments on my journal and I periodically rearrange my f-list accordingly. If you are an HP writer or artist, or if you just happen to make a lot of posts I find interesting, the odds are higher. Even if I could friend everyone back, I probably wouldn't. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but I have a really hard time keeping up with my f-list as it is.
Where can I read more of your fics? I have a handy website that indexes everything I've ever written here. :-D
Are you going to write more in the Left My Heart/Surrender the Grey universe? I'm sorry, but the answer is no. I may write some short fics set in that universe if the inspiration strikes, but I have no plans to continue the story with another long fic. I do plan to write more novel-length H/D fics, though. I will be revising STG sometime in the spring of 2006, and the final version should be posted before summer 2006. I also have plans to post a "DVD commentary" version of both of those fics at some point.
Is it okay if I archive your fic on my site? Send me a private email and we'll chat. I'll probably say yes, but I like to know where it's going before I commit.
Is it all right if I draw art for one of your fics? Oh, hell yes!! That would totally make my year!
Would it be okay if I translate one of your fics into another language? Again, awesome! That's such an amazing compliment. I just ask that you let me know you're doing it, and then send me an email with the URL of the posted translation so that I can post a link to it from my website.
Will you read my fic? Well... maybe. Like lots of people, I'm really busy and work full time, so fandom is something I do in my spare time. I spend most of my limited fandom time writing and participating in various fandom activities, and I don't even have enough time to read the fics written by my favorite writers. :-( Send it my way if you think I'd find it interesting, but I can't make any promises.
Will you beta my fic? If I know you and am already familiar with your writing, and if I have time, probably. If I don't know your work, I may agree to beta if it's short. If that works out, we can proceed from there. You should know that I'm highly critical as a beta, though -- so if you have thin skin, I'm probably not the beta for you!
How do I get my fic listed on the Apres L'Ecole rec site? Send an email to apreslecole@gmail.com with a link to the fic, and we'll make sure it gets on the site. Just read the policies there to make sure your fic is appropriate for the site. :-)
