This is copied directly from [livejournal.com profile] jedirita's journal. Go vote in their stupid poll, and then pass it on.

Dear friends,

My local Clear Channel-controlled media outlet is doing one of those stupid online polls on the proposed state constitutional amendment that would define marriage as only "one man and one woman."

If you want to participate in a largely meaningless but fun act of sabotage, please go to http://www.woai.com and vote NO in their instapoll "Do you support the gay marriage ban?"

Avast ye! Prepare to be boarded! Arrrr!!!

--Jedi Pirate Rita

PS If you are a registered voter in Texas, please vote AGAINST Proposition 2 on November 8. Voting in an online poll means nothing. Voting in an election counts.

ETA: It was 65% for when I voted, and now it's only 61% for! We rock, y'all. Oh, and because it isn't clear, this is a very conservative website running the poll. We're just trying to fuck up their results. ;-)

ETA 2: Now only 56% for!!! God, I love fandom!

ETA 3: 54%! Mwahaha. Not much further, and we'll be the majority!

ETA 4: They took the poll down and I can'r find it -- of course, it was 50.5% NO by then. Mission accomplished, folks! *grins*

Been, voted, but was horrified to see how many votes there were for yes... 65%!

I would like to say I can't believe people can still be so stupid, but unfortunately, I can believe it.

What is wrong with everyone? It's not like anyone's going to force them into a gay marriage just because they're allowed. What are people so afraid of?

Get over it!

Over sixty per cent of people say yes. That is just so fucking stupid. And sad. People need to wake up and smell the gay coffee.

"one man and one woman."

You know what... that's where people should really screw with 'em. Marriage could be 'one man and his car.' Or 'one woman and her Kitchen-Aid mixer.'

It horrifies me that it's 62% yes. Like seriously.

I'll be at the polls the second I get out of class that day.

Sucks that these things are passing everywhere... it was banned in Kentucky about a year ago.

Hee! Yay for subtle skewing! Given that the typical audience of a site like that is likely skewed the opposite direction, it seems only fair.

one of our less than popular political parties did an online vote thing (it was about the constitution for the EU) and an activist site told everyone to go and vote yes. so of course their yes vote shot right up. they couldn't have that! so they sneakily changed the wording to make it look like everyone had voted yes they didn't want the EU constitution when they had voted that yes they DID want it. So keep an eye on this poll, do some print screens and save them just incase.

voted "no" as well... random thought, anyone see the Ellen Degeneres stand up routine about how gay marriage leads into goat marriage? It's hilarious. I love Ellen on most days but this part is especially brilliant.

haha, I saw that! ^^ It was hilarious.

p.s. voted NO as well. I almost screamed when I saw how many were for the ban. They don't want to allow anyone to be happy unless they can be happy too; someone needs to go give them a hug. ^^

For the Slytherins out there ... they only let you vote once. But if you go to tools/internet/options/cancel in your browser and select delete cookies and delete files, you can go right back and vote again. You didn't here me say that....

For me, I just have to delete cookies. The waiting 20 seconds doesn't work. I waited a timed ten minutes and still couldn't vote again, but with deleting cookies, I can go right back and vote again immediately.

that must be one the nastiest worded questions i have even come across for a while .. because if read quickly it comes across as saying, if you support gay marriage vote yes, as apposed to if you read it properly and you find out you should be voting no if you support gay marriage...*growls*.. i just hate it when politics does this.. it is mean and manipulative not to mention misleading….

I wonder if this is why the percentage of people voting yes is higher??

anyhoo.. yay for screwing the consertives...

*dances around!!*

It goes right back to the old question trap, "Do you still beat your wife?" A well worded poll (or poorly worded, depending on you point of view) can be intentionally very misleading.

I just went back to check the website, and it doesn't stop you from voting twice. Talk about your fucked up poll results. We could sit there all night and vote over and over and over again.

BTW, the results for Yes are now just over 57% (I want to say 57.3, but I could be wrong).
