This is a totally random poll of people in fandom. I'm not doing anything with these results -- I'm just curious about people's backgrounds and experiences in fandom. :-)
My slash OTP is H/D, however I'm quite partial to H/G as my canon ship.
I'm married and while I don't identify as bisexual or bi-curious, I'm more pansexual I think. Although I've never been in a relationship with a woman (only physicual stuff). Thus the 'curiosity' has been satisfied ;).
My "other" for the HP question: I don't really have a favorite pairing in HP... I very much enjoy Harry/Draco and Harry/Snape, but adore Harry/Ron/Hermione and Ron/Harry/Draco, and I have a kink for Lily/James.
And I'll just be kicking my Lucius smutbunnies under the rug, shall I?
Well see I was discussing this with Char last night on IM and I ... well, it just feels 'more' right? Basically, pansexuality is about being attracted to people based on their attributes, whereas bisexuality seems to have a definite gender element. Hmmm. I don't know, who knows what the definitions are, they change daily ;). But the current agreed deifnition of pansexuality seemed to suit me :D.
Funnily enough, th conversation stemmed from the fact that I really like how you've made harry bisexual in LMH/STG, rather than out-and-out gay. I think it suits him more *shrugs*
It's been Obi/Bail for a long time, actually (because of Rita's work) -- despite the fact that outside of QAJ, I've never written it. That's why I love your stuff so much! ;-)
*blinks* Based on the stack of zines I got at Escapade a couple years back, I thought Han/Luke was still going strong... http://www.elusivelover.net/ is the one site I know of, but I haven't yet gone looking for others. Do you have any tips for me for when I start looking further?
I really do see Harry as bi-sexual. I mean, in canon, he's clearly attracted to girls. With Draco it's not so clear, but it's pretty obvious that Harry has had crushes on girls, you know? Not that anyone has to stick to canon when they write, but some people like to.
And I also wanted to try really hard to create a genuinely bisexual character -- something you don't really see much in fandom. I'm not sure how successful I was. :-P
You think? *grins* Well, I guess the two longer fics I wrote were Q/O. But QAJ was pretty much Obi/everyone (and towards the end, it wasn't terribly Q/O), and otherwise I've written a lot of Obi/Siri, a bit of Obi/Garen, and a touch of Obi/Anakin.
I'm not sure how much of my SW stuff you've read, of course, but from my perspective, my early stuff was Q/O and then I moved on. ;-)
Heh, exactly. I think it's very believeable to have Harry as bisexual, given he's shown obvious interest in girls from Book 4. And it's not that a person has to 'stick' to canon, but canon has built these characters from the ground up. So I have a much better time shipping or reading Harry/Draco when Harry's obvious interest in girls is addressed, and not just thrown to the wayside by OMGSEXYDRACO. It's just not him to do that.
I think you've done a very good job of creating a bisexual character. Also, I loved him drunkenly perving on boys and girls at the pub. T'was very sexy :D
I chose "other" on the favorite pairing question. I really don't have a favorite pairing; I love them all. It would be so boring to me to read just one pairing or even exclusively het or slash. I read and enjoy it all. I've only written a few fics and have managed to work in a het, a slash, and a femmeslash, so I'm a pretty equal opportunity fan. Some characters do stand out, but I'll happily read them paired with just about anyone.
Under fandom activities, I filled in reading and writing fic, but I also beta for two people full-time, and accept the occasional beta for other people as well. In fact, I probably spend more time betaing than I do writing.
This is quite possibly ridiculous, but it's bothering me nonetheless. I didn't reply to the question What is your current relationship status? because none of them apply to me or anyone else in fandom that may be polyamorous. "Married/Dating, multiple serious" would be my answer. ;)
