What the HP Fandom Wanks To

The results have been tabulated! Before you proceed to the fics, go make sure you've stocked up on batteries, and maybe some snacks too -- must keep up your strength. ;-)

A few weeks ago, I asked people to rec me their top five short smut fics, the ones that send them running for their vibrators time and again. This is what they gave me.


Notes:

• 83 people nominated a total of 236 fics by 139 authors . (Not all of the fics qualified.)


• I decided to accept fics up to 6000 words in length, since many submissions were just over 5000 words. As the goal was to celebrate the best short smut fics, I didn't count anything longer than that. However, non-qualifying fics less than 10,000 words are listed here as Honorable Mention nominees.


• I made a concerted effort to find all fics that links weren't provided for (or for which the links were broken). In a few cases, I just couldn't find them.


• I didn't count people nominating their own fic. Sorry, guys!


• I used Firefox's word count extension to get word counts on these fics (get it here) . When the authors gave word counts, I took their word for it.


• Whenever fics were password-protected, I noted it and provided a link to the log in page. Several people nominated fics I knew were password-protected and gave me direct links. In those cases, I give a different link here. If any authors would like me to provide a different link to their fic, please comment to let me know. (Same goes for if I got any details wrong.)


• There were a few cases in which fics were password protected on sites and I could not manage to get access to them within the week I was tallying the results. Those fics were, unfortunately, left out.


• This survey was clearly very H/D-centric, so I'm making no claims about its validity. Still, there are lots of great fics listed here.


• In the end, I decided to list all the qualifying fics that were nominated, because hey -- the more smut, the better!
