The eyes of Texas are upoooon yooouuuu
May. 11th, 2005 09:56 amSometimes (okay, most of the time, honestly) I do not understand the mentality of the state I live in. I'd think this was joke, if I didn't know better.
From Texas comes news that the state House has passed a bill to take the rah-rah out of "overtly sexually suggestive" cheerleading.
Excerpt: "I can see why Texas lawmakers would want to put the clamps -- or is it burkas? -- on their cheerleaders. With their seductive melodic chants and nifty moves, they might unleash the birds and the bees both. Why, innocent young fellows in the stands could be provoked to un-football-like thoughts.
[...]
I know nothing of the lawmaker behind this legislation but I do note that he is a Democrat, from the same party of polecats that support the gay agenda -- you know, the demand that gay people be treated like human beings with dignity and respect.
Could it be that he is cracking down on cheerleaders so that young men, at an impressionable age, will watch the boys on the field more than the girls on the sidelines, if you get my drift? Why, if the girls are not allowed to be a little bit frisky, will our young men adopt the horrid social customs of places like Saudi Arabia where cheerleading is forbidden? Hey, I'm just asking."
*headdesk*
At least he's trying to make light of a really stupid situation...

Date: 2005-05-11 06:44 pm (UTC)Then they all run around and pounce on each other like they're late for an orgy. Does anyone else wonder what happens on the bottom of those piles and why it takes so long for the refs to peel them apart?
It is essential to pat the bum of your teammates before every play. I'm sure they're using the bum pat as some type of litmus test to see who they'd like to end up with in the next pile.
Furthermore, they are surrounded my thousands of voyeurs at each game who actually pay money to match this lascivious behavior. The networks even have the audacity to put this filth on regular TV when children could be watching.
After all is said and done, the boys head off to the locker room to get naked with each other.
Geez and they're complaining about cheerleaders? ;)
Seriously, someone has waaayyy too much time on his hands. Why tackle things like poverty, disease, war, and education when you can appease the ignorant masses with slight of hand tricks like this? *spits on ground*

...wtf?
But you could be right...he could be trying to get the boys to look more at the boys, lol. And, really, what's wrong with that? But I do not see the point in taking the cheer out of cheerleading.
