emmagrant01: (Texas Dems)

Sometimes (okay, most of the time, honestly) I do not understand the mentality of the state I live in. I'd think this was joke, if I didn't know better.

From Texas comes news that the state House has passed a bill to take the rah-rah out of "overtly sexually suggestive" cheerleading.

Excerpt: "I can see why Texas lawmakers would want to put the clamps -- or is it burkas? -- on their cheerleaders. With their seductive melodic chants and nifty moves, they might unleash the birds and the bees both. Why, innocent young fellows in the stands could be provoked to un-football-like thoughts.

[...]

I know nothing of the lawmaker behind this legislation but I do note that he is a Democrat, from the same party of polecats that support the gay agenda -- you know, the demand that gay people be treated like human beings with dignity and respect.

Could it be that he is cracking down on cheerleaders so that young men, at an impressionable age, will watch the boys on the field more than the girls on the sidelines, if you get my drift? Why, if the girls are not allowed to be a little bit frisky, will our young men adopt the horrid social customs of places like Saudi Arabia where cheerleading is forbidden? Hey, I'm just asking."

*headdesk*

At least he's trying to make light of a really stupid situation...

Good thing they're worried about shelter and food for those unable to afford them. Or lessons for students.

I saw this on The Daily Show last night and the only thing I have to say is that I think all of the people who have an issue with cheerleading and other such "overtly sexually suggestive" behaviors ought to get their minds out of the gutter. Cheerleading is a viable competitive sport option for all.

PS How did you like the movie?

Can I just say that the tezas legislature as a whole need a hobby? Perhaps someone could volunteer to teach them underwater basket weaving or macrame, so that they could spend their time more productively. Apparently, passing legislation that aids the people of their state is entirely too much to ask.

ROFL! Personally, I think cheerleaders (especially the young ones) go a bit too far with the skankiness, but should legislatures really be focusing their attention on crap like that?

Then again, this is the state that has the worst sex education in the country... bah.

That's right! Stop focusing on the cheerleaders, goddamit! There are men in shorts on that field!

Oh, Texas. You're really one of a kind.

Are you kidding me? I think I can sleep ALOT better tonight knowing Texas legislators have the time to deal with the BIG ISSUES like lewd cheerleading. *facepalm*

The author was pretty funny about the situation though. Gave me a laugh about my homestate. I think I will keep laughing so I won't scream from aggrivation.

Really, on the whole, the sport of football is one layer of fabric away from hard core porn. We've got buff young men reaching between each other's legs every few minutes. They say it's to grab the football but we all know it's a clever disguise for a reach-around.

Then they all run around and pounce on each other like they're late for an orgy. Does anyone else wonder what happens on the bottom of those piles and why it takes so long for the refs to peel them apart?

It is essential to pat the bum of your teammates before every play. I'm sure they're using the bum pat as some type of litmus test to see who they'd like to end up with in the next pile.

Furthermore, they are surrounded my thousands of voyeurs at each game who actually pay money to match this lascivious behavior. The networks even have the audacity to put this filth on regular TV when children could be watching.

After all is said and done, the boys head off to the locker room to get naked with each other.

Geez and they're complaining about cheerleaders? ;)

Seriously, someone has waaayyy too much time on his hands. Why tackle things like poverty, disease, war, and education when you can appease the ignorant masses with slight of hand tricks like this? *spits on ground*

(LMAO) you know....i've always noticed the bum smacking among professional athletes, but i never noticed just how far the slashy nature of football goes...somebody here needs to write some football slash. perhaps i will do it. *ponders, with difficulty because am laughing helplessly*

Weren't they the ones that put it there in the first place? I remember my cousins being all about the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.

ohmygoodness...that is...er...special. I would think it was a hoax if you hadn't said it wasn't :P Seriously:

...wtf?

But you could be right...he could be trying to get the boys to look more at the boys, lol. And, really, what's wrong with that? But I do not see the point in taking the cheer out of cheerleading.

They're telling me that the stiff-necked white men are trying to STOP young girls from opening their legs to widely? I'd almost approve, in an obscure let-the-burocracy-get-their-heads-out-of-their-dicks kind of way, if it weren't so rediculous. Does this mean that we have to start watching out for the gymnists next?
