I started posting Left My Heart on  March 3 of  last year, so it seems fitting to start posting the sequel a year later.  :-)

Title: Surrender the Grey
Author: Emma Grant
Rating:
NC-17
Summary:
Draco Malfoy returns to London after five years of self-imposed exile to start a new life with Harry.  But will the secrets of the past destroy everything they've worked for?
Note: The first draft of this story will be posted here on my LJ as a WIP, starting Wednesday March 2.  I'm planning to update it weekly.

Thanks for your patience and encouragement!

ETA: *boggles* I am completely bowled over by the response to this announcement! A few people had mentioned they'd like to have a heads-up on when I'd start posting so that they could re-read LMH, so that's all this post was about. When I pulled up my LJ and saw 3 pages of comments, I nearly fell over!

Y'all are amazing. I am SO inspired! I don't have time to reply to all of these wonderful comments, but

THANK YOU!!!

By some happy coincidence, I just finished reading "Left my Heart" this week, so I was elated to discover that the first chapter of the sequel would be posted a mere week later. I found it an excellent read on all levels -- plot, characterization, writing, new elements -- and felt the ending was open in the extreme. So I'm all for hearing about Draco's -- my pet JKR character, please don't kill him off or worse, JK! -- and Harry's adventures in London.

As far as you comment on so-called mentors, I'd say it's one of two things. Either they genuinely feel you no longer need their encouragement, which is possible or they lose interest once their protégés achieve 'colleague' status. Where I come from, we have what I -- and others -- call the English-Canadian intelligentsia. The author Margaret Atwood, an excellent writer whose books have given me much pleasure over the years, is part of that group. This "intelligentsia" used to be very open and enthusiastic in their support of Quebec's French culture... way before the province got any kind of political clout or its culture, international recognition. Strangely enough, since then, their support has been transformed into outright hostility. Their former protégés are fascists with few or no redeeming qualities nowadays, at least according to them. They have embraced the cause of the oppressed Amerindians, whose culture is magnificent and fight, just. I'm not mocking the Native Americans, in this case, Canadians. It's just that the minute they achieve any level of true political power or have a few artists break the international barrier of fame in a significant way, they'll be instantly rejected by the ECI. In this case, because they're a bunch of patronising colonialists. So yes, some of the people who ignore you now are like that. Pay them no mind. Tell yourself it's a compliment... a backhanded one, but a compliment nonetheless.

Kudos.

THANK YOU! =D

I am SO excited, you don't even know. I have to go re-read 'Left My Heart' again! That is SO not a bad thing. I can even break up the chapters so I can read some today, some on Monday, some on Tuesday, then finish up on Wednesday and read the first part of the sequel! Yesss! Sorry! I'm rambling, I know! Anyway, THANK YOU!
