I've been waiting to make this post for a few months now, squee!
Some of you might remember
slashcast, which I was involved with several years ago. We were an HP-centric slash podcast that aired 2006-2007, and we had a hell of a lot of fun interviewing writers and artists, talking about slash, and generally squeeing about the stuff we loved. We produced 21 episodes that we were really proud of.
The podcast went on hiatus after my son was born, and somehow the team never really got it back together to start up again. People moved on to other fandoms; lives got busy, and so on.
Then one day last spring,
wook77 emailed me and asked if I'd be interested in rebooting Slashcast as a multi-fandom slash podcast. More importantly, she volunteered to help make it happen, and so we started talking about it. She brought in
elanorofcastile; I emailed the old Slashcast team and quite a few of them jumped back on board as well, including
kriken,
burnfor, and
el_em_en_oh_pee.
And it's happening! Starting September 1,
slashcast will once again start posting monthly episodes. The first episode will be mostly focused on the release of Deathly Hallows part 2, but after that we'll be covering slash across multiple fandoms. As before, we'll be interviewing fans about their work, holding meta discussions about topics of interest to slashers, reporting the latest GLBT news, and more.
I sincerely hope you'll come back and give the podcast a listen again, even if you've moved on to other fandoms. If you've never listened to the podcast before, all 21 of our previous episodes are available on our LJ and through iTunes. Go to
slashcast for more information.
Finally, we're going to need some help to make this a truly multi-fandom podcast. We have about 15 fandoms covered with the core staff, but we'll definitely be looking for some more people to join our team and contribute. If you're interested, more information will be posted about that closer to the launch of the first episode.
tl;dr summary:
slashcast is back! And hopefully, better than ever. :-)
