First, a rec: One of These Days (The Sky's Gonna Break) by [livejournal.com profile] starlitshore (Harry/Draco, NC-17, WIP).

I'm a beta for this fic so I've seen where it's going, and I'm incredibly excited about it. Her portrayals of Harry and Draco are so exactly what I adore, and her writing is in that smooth, straightforward style that I love and aspire to. Go, read! :-D

Second, bidding is now underway in the [livejournal.com profile] lubricus Support Our Slashing auction! There are lots of awesome items up for auction, including a fic by me and a chance to guest host a segment on [livejournal.com profile] slashcast. Please go check it out and bid, if you're so inclined. :-D

OMG, it's seriously March?

Even if you can't come to [livejournal.com profile] lubricus this summer, you can help us make it fun and support our slashing! We have two fundraisers going on this spring: the awesome HP Slash Colouring/Book and the SOS Auction, in which you can offer and bid on cool things.

See this post for more information and links to both projects.

Also, new [livejournal.com profile] slashcast coming Thursday!
emmagrant01: (Slashcast)
So, the next episode of [livejournal.com profile] slashcast comes out tomorrow, and it has a delicious kink theme, woot!

When we record the segments we usually have twice as much material as actually makes it into the show after editing. Some of it is hard to cut because it's funny or interesting, but has to go for time reasons or because it's slightly off-topic. I've always wanted to do something with that extra stuff, but wasn't sure quite how to get it out there. We finally realized that we could post these kinds of things to the brand new Slashcast Tumblr so people could hear them. I don't know if many people actually have heard them, but here they are:

How Mijan snuck fanfic into Basic Training

Brent Spiner is awesome

Sherlock fandom angst takes over Tumblr and Twitter

Emma and Mijan discuss the effect of sex scenes on readers

So listen, and reblog if you like. :-)

1. If you'd still like to leave a comment on the last episode of [livejournal.com profile] slashcast, today would be a great day to do so, since we're recording the Mailbag segment tonight. Click the banner below to go the the episode post. :-)

2. Have you ever noticed that falling into a new fandom is kind of like falling in love? The emotions are startlingly similar, and that OMG-read-all-the-fic binge is kind of like the way you have sex like bunnies at the beginning of a relationship. I lose my appetite; I get giddily excited just thinking about the characters, I fantasize about them during sex, and everything everywhere seems to make me think of them. Oh, the obsession -- it's so much fun!
emmagrant01: (Sherlock)
I'm now up to date on Sherlock canon, woot! And now I'm looking for fic. And by fic I mean porn.

Anyone have any recs? I've been cruising the kink meme and a few comms, but haven't yet found anything that really presses my buttons. Said buttons would be first-time John/Sherlock fic with both boys fairly IC. Surely such fics exist in a fandom that's been around a few years?

EDIT: Lots of amazing Sherlock recs in the comments!

I'm really finding myself wanting to write for this fandom. Things need to sink in a bit (and obviously there are two more episodes coming), but yeah, I think there will be fic. :-D

Two quick pimps:

1. [livejournal.com profile] snapecase is currently posting! I wrote a fic for this one, in case anyone is interested. This is the first fic I've ever written from Snape's POV, and only the 2nd or 3rd Snape-centric fic ever. So it may be easy to spot the n00b, LOL.

2. Y'all, I am so effing proud of the current episode of [livejournal.com profile] slashcast. It's our 5th episode since the reboot and I think it's our best one yet. If you haven't listened, I hope you'll give it a try and then comment to let us know what you think. :-)

Hear me interview [livejournal.com profile] lauramcewan about vidding and being a beta reader, learn about Ass Creed, listen to me, [livejournal.com profile] wook77, [livejournal.com profile] kriken, and [livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r reminisce about Lumos 2006, hear how [livejournal.com profile] djin7 and [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose survive the holiday feet season, and more. :-D

In case you haven't noticed, we have a macro campaign going on over at [livejournal.com profile] slashcast. We'll be posting a macro every day leading up to the September 1 release of our first episode in 3.5 years.

Enjoy!
emmagrant01: (Slashcast)
I've been waiting to make this post for a few months now, squee!

Some of you might remember [livejournal.com profile] slashcast, which I was involved with several years ago. We were an HP-centric slash podcast that aired 2006-2007, and we had a hell of a lot of fun interviewing writers and artists, talking about slash, and generally squeeing about the stuff we loved. We produced 21 episodes that we were really proud of.

The podcast went on hiatus after my son was born, and somehow the team never really got it back together to start up again. People moved on to other fandoms; lives got busy, and so on.

Then one day last spring, [livejournal.com profile] wook77 emailed me and asked if I'd be interested in rebooting Slashcast as a multi-fandom slash podcast. More importantly, she volunteered to help make it happen, and so we started talking about it. She brought in [livejournal.com profile] elanorofcastile; I emailed the old Slashcast team and quite a few of them jumped back on board as well, including [livejournal.com profile] kriken, [livejournal.com profile] burnfor, and [livejournal.com profile] el_em_en_oh_pee.

And it's happening! Starting September 1, [livejournal.com profile] slashcast will once again start posting monthly episodes. The first episode will be mostly focused on the release of Deathly Hallows part 2, but after that we'll be covering slash across multiple fandoms. As before, we'll be interviewing fans about their work, holding meta discussions about topics of interest to slashers, reporting the latest GLBT news, and more.

I sincerely hope you'll come back and give the podcast a listen again, even if you've moved on to other fandoms. If you've never listened to the podcast before, all 21 of our previous episodes are available on our LJ and through iTunes. Go to [livejournal.com profile] slashcast for more information.

Finally, we're going to need some help to make this a truly multi-fandom podcast. We have about 15 fandoms covered with the core staff, but we'll definitely be looking for some more people to join our team and contribute. If you're interested, more information will be posted about that closer to the launch of the first episode.

tl;dr summary: [livejournal.com profile] slashcast is back! And hopefully, better than ever. :-)
