Christmas rec!
Dec. 12th, 2004 01:50 pmLast year I stumbled across a wonderful H/D fic where Harry received some magical mistletoe from Draco and spent the rest of the fic feeling compelled to kiss him. It was the best Christmas fic I read last year and I loved it -- and then I promptly lost the link. Well,
geoviki posted a list of her favorite Christmas fics, and one of them was the one I'd been looking for!

Review (contains spoilers):
I love this fic SO much! Upon a re-read, I still think it's the best Christmas fic I've ever read. It's funny, sentimental, and poignant, and there's such a nice little twist at the end! I love how Draco pretends the mistletoe spell Harry is "under" about power when it's really something else. Or is it? Did Draco start with that thought but found it eventually turned into a real feeling? I also like the way Harry comes to terms with his attraction for Draco so easily. He just accepts it without beating himself up or angsting over it any more than he already has. In fact, it's a relief for him to realize he hasn't actually been under a spell the whole time. I also like the way the Ron/Hermione storyline so nicely parallels the Harry/Draco one, and even predicts the ending -- it gives the story a "you should have seen this coming" quality, which I really, really like in fic! I love the whole mistletoe concept she uses here as well. There are lots of "magical mistletoe" stories out there, but this one is the best, IMO.
