Just got back from standing in a very long line.

So now I can say THIS:

Pass it on.

Props for the second sticker go to David Thomas.

HAahah that's awesome! :D (the second one :)

Never will get over the fact that so many people in America don't vote. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the polls are on a weekday? We have ours on Saturdays, which sorta declines the "Oh, I have to work!" excuse... :)

Voting on Tuesday: Yeah -- whose idea was that, anyway??? There've been occasional suggestions to make it a national holiday, but I doubt that will ever happen. Technically, your employer has to let you take time off work to go vote, but still...

Is it always on a weekday? Or is there some great almighty power that randomly chooses which date it's going to be, and oh well, too bad what day it lands on?

Bhwahah, a national holiday!? That won't make people vote! They'll all be too busy on a quick holiday... or passed out drunk. Sure, that's something that might happen on a weekend, but national holiday makes me think "yep, day of doing nothing for sure." (The fact that it's compolsury to vote over here, and the fac that we get fined if we don't kinda makes me get off my ass and vote - that and I don't like our Prime Minister and what he stands for (and he kisses GWB's ass like there's no tomorrow. If he could live in it, I think he'd be happy ;). I've been a Labor supporter a long time, even before I realised it - I remember being sad when one of our Prime Ministers was voted out when I was six!)

So yeah! That turned out a bit longer than I expected :) Oh well!

It's always been the first Tuesday in November, as far as I know. There's probably a reason for that. I should know that, shouldn't I?

You rock. I'm going to use one now, even though I don't vote till tonight. There's no way I'm missing this vote.

HAHAHA
Then it's a good thing our elections aren't on the first Tuesday in November - that's our Melbourne Cup Day - aka the race that stops the nation. One of the biggest horse races in the world supposedly. We'd all be too sloshed to remember to go and vote!

Me either. I work graveyard, and I left early cause I was so tired after Yaoicon, but even so, I tried to stop after work to vote before I went home to sleep. Stupid polls aren't open til 7 here. The people waiting outside thought I was there to work. :)

I voted last week. I'm so sick-to-my-stomach nervous today. I just want to hibernate until it's all over.

And not just because of the election. I have a church council meeting tonight, and those always suck. Maybe I can just make a plea that we all be nice to each other tonight because of the election.

Yay for voting!
Off topic, but after watching the SNL with Jude Law on it and the Paris Hilton lampoon, I decided that there ought to be shirts that say "Voting's hot".

Loved the second! Wish my 'I voted' sticker said that.

Here's my version for those who haven't done so:

GO VOTE

I have been getting more and more anxious about this election! Yesterday while driving to work, I was listening to the BBC coverage of the lead-up to the election, and my stomach was absolutely churning. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next few days. I'll be watching the returns through the fingers over my eyes. And I'll probably need a strong drink!

Good luck with your meeting.

Yay for voting, yes! If it goes for Bush, at least the turnout will have been good. I think I can sleep better knowing at least that much.

Well, until he fucks something else up, that is. :-/

I'd like a copy of that second sticker too, espeically where I live. Actually, MDH and I were joking that we should have made t-shirts that said "My vote may not count, but at least it cancels out YOUR vote." Damn red state.

I'm such an election geek, at least when it comes to Canadian and American elections. I totally know that if I wasn't working tonight, I'd be glued to the telly, watching the coverage.

Actually, it's the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The first Tuesday might be Nov 1, which is a Catholic holiday.

Where I grew up it was illegal to sell alcohol on election day! I wonder if you can buy it here.

Emma, re: the T-shirt idea, I was seriously tempted to do an iron-on that reads "No, I didn't vote for him" on the front and "Or for him, either" on the back. ;)
